im planning to get a JDM EK4 cluster but i have a few questions.

1. is it at all possible to change the mileage to match my current one so that it will read accurately?

2. if i install it will the odometer continue to increase in miles or kilo's?

3. when i rev my car to 7k will the tach rev to 8 because thats where the 7 was located on the stock one? or will it stop at 7, and same question for the speedometer..

thanx a lot!

Same cluster I have...

1. Prolly, but I woudn't mess with it...Just save your old, write down what number the jdm cluster started on and add the numbers together to get current mileage.

2. Good question

3. :wtf: If you rev to 7, it's gonna rev to 7. And the cluster comes in kmh so be prepared to do the conversions in your head while the cops are behind you...lol

1) There is no point in trying to change it to match. Say you make it match. Once you start driving the odo will read in kilo's. So you will not be accurate anyways.

2) refer to answer 1!

3)It works the same way as if you go and buy a 11k rpm tach. It reads it properly. SO dont stress it!

Hope that helps!

if it's jdm, it'll be in kilometers. it doesn't make sense for it to be in miles.

i know its in kilometers, im just wondering if the odometer will increase in miles or not, because my ecu is going to send it signals to go up 1 every mile, not kilo. whereas in a jdm car it would be sending the signal to go up every kilo... thats how i would think it works anyway.

Why not just swap an Si cluster in??? Just cause your little JDM cluster goes to 200 doesnt mean you are faster than before

if it's a mechanical odometer, the ecu won't be sending it anything.

because my car is not an si, and those clusters say Si in big bright letters on them. i dont want that. the one im getting doesnt say that, and it goes up to 180 kph, which i dont think is even higher than my stock one...
the reason i'm getting it is because i like the way it looks, i like the orange numbers and needles. my DIY orange led job just isnt doin it for me, and i like that cluster a lot...

Ok....when you want to know how many miles are on your car. Just take the number "x" from when you put it in. Subtract from number "y" current milage. Then take that number and multiply it by 0.6214. Then you will know how many miles you have put on it since you changed it.

Then take that number and add it to your old one.

Presto...your milage has arrived! 8)

1 mile = 1.6 kilometers.
1/4 mile = 400 meters.

it's a very easy conversion. u better be up on it, or else u won't know how FAST you're going. it's not hard at al..... but then again, i'm used to kmh

I have an EK4 cluster in my EJ8 and yes it will click off in KM rather than Miles regardless off the ECU. Other wise for some reason since I installed it I now get 400miles to a tank of gas.

As for the reason I got it, I like the stock look as well.

DOH! i was expectin a sure answer from the chassis pro!!

Upon looking again, check out the redline....I'm almost sure that the gauge cluster I have is only for the ek4 sir....and the other is just the regular models...

well, the only EK4s i have actually come in direct physical contact with have been VTi hatchbacks.. and they had the red cluster. it seems to me the white ones might be from the ferios

Yeah, mine is not from a SiR, that is the difference between the "all amber" and the one I have. Also you can see that mine is an AT and the SIR is manny so it's from a stock model. It still glows amber at night though.
