a few guage cluster questions

regarding the miles for the cluster....i'll talk to a buddy of mine and see what he did....he some how took the lil mileage thing out of his stock usdm cluster and put it in his jdm cluster, and it works perfect, not sure if he did anything but i'll ask and post results

isn't that hard to do without cracking the odometer?

haha....i have the CAN Sir cluster...reades both mph and kmh....

well from what i know, it depends on if the mileage is stored in the cluster or the ecu. if in the cluster, then swapping it out will start you at the mileage on the new cluster and go up from there. the tach will work like normal, all you do is plug an rpm sensor to it. some speedo shops (that repair speedometers and radars for cops) can reflash the mileage on the cluster but i don't have experience with that.

I believe if you do a search there is a thread on how to swap out the faces and stick it to your current one, or you can roll the current EK4 cluster till it hits whatever your current mileage is and it will read currectly you will just have to convert it to miles if anyone asks.

I've seen the pics for the odometer rolling, not only is it pretty tough (you have to remove the pin inside the rollers and roll each by hand without breaking it), but tampering with it is an offense (at least in VA)
