Ac compressor locked up, so I cut the belt. Made things worse, any advice?

I cut the belt to my ac compressor (locked up) thinking it would help, but when I start the car it idles very low/dies when put into gear. It didn't do this before I cut the belt, but its not making any sense as to why this is happening.

Any advice?

X2, doesn't really make much sense otherwise.

OP, Make sure your AC is turned off in case the compressor isn't locked up anymore maybe? Only thing I can think of.

Thinking it may be the alternator or something else...
