I really need some opinions :???:

im looking to buy a 12" alpine type r sub and i want some speakers also. I was looking into the alpine type r 6x9"s for the back and a set (I'm not sure what the size is) for the front on my 96 civic cx. Do you think that the speakers are good and/or worth the price that they retail for?

If not what kind do you suggest that would cost around the same price?

Thanks guys

i have alpine type R mids and highs, and i think they're a good quality for the price. they're pretty beefy though.. i had to put 5.25 components in the front, intead of 6.5s.

i love it but i sub would be nice. alpine is the audio provider for porsche and ferrari...or somethin leik that
to quote the ladies man: "that isth a good idea and i will sthupport that."

Eclipse 6x9's FTW.

I've been impressed with Alpine's subs, but as always I say go with JL.

subs: jl shuts it down in QUALITY

they're not the loudest, but cleanest....

type r door speakers are good if you're gonna amp them. thats when they come alive. otherwise, go type s or MB Quart if u can afford them.

btw...i work at a sound shop. Just put the new Alpine CDA9857 in my car, plus type s components and 6x9's....love 'em!

JL is also more expensive than alpine. type R subs are really nice, imo.

and you shouldn't get aftermarket speakers without an amplifier, imo. that's what they're made for.

type r 12's = $199
jl w3v3 12's= $250
type s 12's= $99

but i thought this was a door speaker topic...

type s 6.5" components= $199/pr
type s 6.5 co-ax= $99/pr
type r 6.5 co ax=$150/pr
cant remember component price...

it just depends on what u're going for. ultimte bass, or wallet-saver. type s subs can hit equally hard with the right power and correct size box as type r's. i'm probably going to throw one type r 10 in my car.

Alright someone on MR gave me a deal that i dont know if i should take or not.... I was offered some clarion 2-way SRR1686 speakers (250 watts peak power) and 3-way SRR1636 speakers (230 watts peak power). Also Kicker KS13 tweeters, with 2 12" Alpine Type R subs. Everything is used...I think there was an Alpine amp as well but i can't remember exactly. The price was 870 for all of that. Is this worth it or not?

thanks guys

Alpine is usually good s**t...

I'm changing up my system sometime soon... i'm switching over from two 12" subs to a single 12" Type R... two subs are cool... shakes the car well and such, but.. it's just time to downgrade and get more different stuff.

i have an alpine headunit (200W triple pre-outs), 6.5 type s components, soon to be type s 6x9 rears as well as type s 12 that ill run from my mono alpine amp. i started with the type s components running off the head unit but now that i have them powered the sound is amazing. i suggest powering both sets of speaker with an amp! otherwise you wont notice enough of an increase in quality from stock speakers and you will be dissapointed. but when they are powered they are loud and crystal clear! im an alpine fan (obviously), and i went with them cause of their good reputation. also stick with the same brand for all your speakers so plan ahead. but to me, whether you go with the type s or type r speakers, i recommend powering them!

used is risky business when it comes to electronics when spending that amount of money id hate to get an unfixable amp and or blown speakers. better to buy new and at least have some assurance of quality and maybe even warranty.

They're clearance. It was in Sunday's paper and they were in my hot little hands the next day

Well, dammit. All I can find is a Pioneer 6 disc changer for like $35. :S

Call your CarToys, Quick! get them to set some aside for you.
