because alot of higher end headunits i.e. alpine has an internal amplifier which is more than enough for speakers such as the type's's but.. yea. .if you plan on getting the type r's an external amp will have to be usedAkiahara96 said:i didn't say anything about factory speakers, guys..
i just wouldn't get aftermarket speakers with an amplifier to power them. i guess if i had them just laying around that'd be a different story.
I gotta agree with you, in order to get the most quality and sound out of the speaker is with a good amp, If your already springing for nice speakers, why not save a little more and do it right?Akiahara96 said:headunits don't put out 50 watts. 6.5in type s coaxials are 50 watts RMS. just fyi. i would not put speakers like alpines in without an amp. maybe some cheap old crappy walmart speakers, but not anything that i'm spending money on.
Most Kenwoods are 22watts RMS. In fact everything from eXcelon down spec out about the same. On the higher end models you are paying for the display, additional pre-amp outs, internal sub control, etc... but the internal MOSFET amp is the same. Pioneer appears to be the samePEARLelectron said:because alot of higher end headunits i.e. alpine has an internal amplifier which is more than enough for speakers such as the type's's but.. yea. .if you plan on getting the type r's an external amp will have to be used
But when the Type S-es cost as much or less than as a set of cheap WalMart Sony Xplodes?Akiahara96 said:headunits don't put out 50 watts. 6.5in type s coaxials are 50 watts RMS. just fyi. i would not put speakers like alpines in without an amp. maybe some cheap old crappy walmart speakers, but not anything that i'm spending money on.
All i kno is that i dont have my speakers any where near the volume i can turn my headunit up too..So i think i can safely say that its enough to power my 2 speakersBeelzebubba said:Most Kenwoods are 22watts RMS. By comparison the Alpine CDA-9857 is 18watts RMS
The Eclipse CD7000 is 14watts RMS

Again, they were on clearance at CarToys for $49. How do you pass that up?

The only speakers I run with out an amp are my rear pioneer 6x9's mainly because I dont care much about rear fill with this setup, fronts are still stock.... and still holding up..
My next setup this summer will be a full eD system (front comps, sub, custom box, amps)

volume does not equal power. if you turn your volume up way high, those speakers will not have enough power, they will distort, they will sound like s**t, and if you do it all the time, they'll eventually fry.
okay, if you got them for fifty bucks do whatever the hell you want with them. thanks for being difficult, beelze! <3
Are you running off the stock deck? Somehow I doubt any moderately powered receiver wouldn't distort Xplods. You have to have some sort of crossover to minimize distortion and an amplifier happens to have one built in... why not go louder since you need that crossover anyways?PEARLelectron said:but thats the thing.... I can turn them up to the loudest bearable level.. without distorting.......... why do people honestly need to have they're speakers super loud?????? pointless really
