As title states, I want to start my own website. I wanna try to get my music stuff out in the public more so I think a website could help. I'd also throw in other stuff like car stuff, other media, etc.

But I just want to know what are some good hosts and what hosts I should stay away from. And if any hosts give you like templates to work with and branch off of. All I know is basic HTML.

if you start your own website, you will get no traffic. why don't you just go through youtube like everyone else? If your s**t is good, you'll get hits.

I already have a YouTube channel. I'd just like my own website too so I can post it on my YouTube channel. IMHO, it'd make me look more "professional" and make me look like I want it more, which I do. There's only so much I can do on YouTube.

My hosting provider provides a free domain when you get hosting with them.

Let me know if you want information.

24/7 Support (I've only had to use it 3 times and that was for basic things.)
Cheap
Reliable

I've got no complaints.

I've heard that godaddy and 1and1 are good. No Regrets - who do you use?

Stay away from GoDaddy, nothing but issues. I use DreamHost.

Speaking of no regrets when are plans for site to be done?
Sometime in the next month or two. I have a blog set up letting people know of ongoing news and developments: http://blog.toplevelcomputers.com

I'm still working with some manufacturers which is why it's taking awhile.

I'm still working on setups, shipping (Custom made shipping boxes), and software to be included on the computers (Preinstalled anti-virus, person firewall, OpenOffice, customizations to Windows 7 and XP ect.)

I don't doubt TM does a good job, I'd just rather stick with something big / reputable.

I'll look into DreamHost. Does DreamHost offer any software or programs or templates that help me build my website? Like can a beginner use DreamHost? Or is it more advanced stuff? The OS says its Linux and I've never used Linux.

I just figured that it would be nice where if you had any concerns/questions you would be able to drive over there and talk with him. But yeah I can see why you would want to go with a more well known hosting company.

I use justhost for one of my sites.

its unlimited bandwidth, storage and you get a free domain. Plus its cheap.

I think they have a sitebuilder you can use. you might wanna consider using wordpress. its easy to use, theres a ton of templates to choose from and you don't need a ton of technical knowledge to do it. let me know if you have any questions.

amej.... sounds like you have no idea what you're about to get into.

Go with dreamhost, but search for promo codes, even if they're expired they'll work. Dreamhost will practically hold your hand if you want them to. Linux is the server operating system... you never see any part of it, it just has to do with how you install certain stuff if you chose to, or you can have them install it. There's a promo code that you can use to get a year free if you pay in advance, I did that and I ended up paying like 10 bucks for the year.
