Thanks. :thumbs up I think you might have to drop the column to get the knuckle. Never seen anyone try to just get the knuckle before, but I am lead to believe you might need to.
hey dude what is the steering colum knuckle, is it on the steering colum?.....

Number four. It's at the base of the steering column. My car was stolen and the theives twisted the column. I got a new column, but come to find out (upon install) the column is a '99-'00 Civic steering column. So now I have the longer version of the column (as compared with my '98 ) and the longer version of the knuckle (as compared to the '99-'00). So I can't bolt the two back together.

I know there are bolts on the top of the steering column bracketing that comes undone. They are acsessed by removing the panel under the steering wheel (the flat one against the bottom of your dash). You might also want to remove the steering column shroud to be able to get to it. If you plan to drop the column, you might have to disable the airbags! Just thought of that.

I can't find this knuckle anywhere but Honda. Might just cave and get it there if I have to, but I have to get my rear windshield removed and reset too because of a pretty bad water leak. :(

Edit - Oh yeah, a steering column goes for about $430 with the switches. Just an idea for you since a lot of stolen Hondas need new steering columns. So if you remove that at the same time, it's ready for shipping pretty much if you find a buyer. If you go through this much trouble to remove the part I need (the airbag being the biggest pain in the ass to deal with), then I figure I should let you know the value of a steering column which would already be pretty much removed.

Thanks again for the effort. Oh... since your car was stolen the steering column might not be worth anythign anymore (see if you can move it, tilt, etc). IT's bad if it's bent of course. All the switches, or at least most could probably still be used though. Make sure anyone you sell to knows the year though. Too much is different electronically between the '96-'98s and '99-'00s.

Wow, wish I could do somethign like this. Sounds like fun. (The tear-down I mean.)

If I find anything for our interiors we might be interested in, I'll let you know. Both our MIlano Red coupe and Roma Red hatch have Type K interiors.
