Auto to manual.

I'm posting this in Off Topic because this is about an Integra, not a civic. So therefore, not site relevant.

My question is, Is a 5 speed swap 100 percent fully functional? And I mean to the smallest detail. Does the clutch sit further to the left than in a regular 5-speed? Are there any things that need to be maintained or checked on more frequently on a converted car vs. one that came manual?

I know I'm not wording this right, but I guess what I'm asking is, is an auto to manual (5 speed swap) the exact same as a car that's a manual.

Or are there things you could see to tell it's been converted?

Yupppp. I just got to thinking that if I just don't rush it and get everything part by part until I have everything I need it'll go smooth. Because during that time I would research the hell out of it and hopefully make it an easy process

Same man. I went out for a drive in a manual yesterday. Was pretty hard at first. Somewhat got it down but need more practice.

We did a 5 speed swap on mine - it's completely functional 100%. The ONLY difference is that you do not need to push the clutch in to start the car (it has to be in neutral if I don't, obviously). I just never went out and wired up a clutch safety switch. That, and I still have the automatic cluster - P is always just lit up. But other than that it works 100% like a normal 5 speed should. I've only had a handful of people notice it was converted, and that's only because they saw the automatic cluster.

Exactly what I wanted to hear, can't believe I didn't think about the auto cluster. If I get a 5-speed cluster it would change the miles too wouldn't it? And could I wire up a clutch safety switch?

Also, with all parts available how long should it take? And how hard was it on a scale of 1-10?

Also do you think these are the only differences that would be seen in an integra as well?

Just take the speedometer oout of yyour auto cluster and pit it in the manual one. Unless the odometer is separate.

When I took apart my 4dr civic auto cluster, the odometer could be separated from the speedo I think. May be different with Tegs though.

Not sure if you can do that or not (swap odo on clusters, I'm pretty sure you can't, and it might even be illegal) - just keep the automatic one in though if you can't swap. I rather know how many miles I have on the car rather than swapping in a new one. I can deal with the car looking like it's always in P. Make sure you switch to the correct ECU you though.

You don't NEED a manual ECU (I went without one for a couple months), but it will be like "WHO AM I AND WTF AM I DOING" and will flash both park and drive at the same time.

Yeah, I always like to know the mileage just in case I sell it so I'd probably keep the cluster. You could always take out the auto gear indicator bulbs so it doesn't show up.

:werd: I would but I'm too lazy to pull everything apart. I really don't mind it at all leaving it the way it is.
