ok guys my 00 civic si boosted has cracked a ring land. and i have just now purchased a b16a short block jdm. and i was wondering if i do a stock rebuild with all stock internals could this motor handle 10-12 psi?? i know ppl on here have been known for 350-400 whp on stock internals. But i want to get about 300-350 whp. is this possible. im going to run a chipped ecu also.

its possible with the proper tuning. Just dont race everyone and it will be ok.

WHy call someone gay over not liking street racing, maybe the dude had one of his family memebers or friends killed from street racing. Think before you open your mouth.

okok lets stop fighting and back to the thread objective.

to answer your question. yes of course you can run 10-12 psi on stock rebuild but only with a great tune. in my situation im running 12psi on complete stock with 100k on the motorwith a great tuned chipped p28 with hondata s200. just dont drive hard, and treat your motor well with lots of oil changes and regular tune ups. but i would strongly recommend to upgrade anyway since youre going to rebuild. rebuilding with aftermarket quality parts will cost just alittle more than oem, but nothign to break the bank.

another thing you should think about is compression ratio. lowering the engines comp ratio will allow you to run higher psi. but when boosting, whp is the goal, not psi.

Wouldn't you have the same detonation factors on a high comp. engine on low boost? As opposed to low comp. and hight boost going for the same whp?:?:

uh... what? you shouldn't worry about detonation with a good tune. all im saying is high compression motors run better with n/a vs a lower compression motor.

just dont drive hard
what? what the hell is the point of boosting then? spend all that money making it fast, then be afraid to let it do what its supposed to do?

if its tuned correctly, drive it like you want. i ran the f**king piss out of my boosted setup at 12psi. to hell with babying it, i built it for a reason...

Buy some pistons/rods & have the motor properly built.

dude, what?! a lot of the tune that you get has to do with the fuel you use. so yes, you should worry about detonation even with a good tune. never use low octane fuel on any boost or high compression engine. EVER
