Hi guys, im new to this forum, and im new with an Honda, i just bought my 1.6 Civic VTi VTEC from 1992, im from Portugal and there are no good Portuguese foruns about hondas...and i had a few questions that i think you guys showld know how to answer

(Sorry the crappy english  )

Im planing to install a greedy turbo kit, or a turbonetics one, or maybe an edelbrock victor X...
I'd like to know which intake manifold is better, the skunk2 pro or the edelbrock's victor x.

And mainly id like to know what upgrades i should do before installing the turbo kit, because the engine is totaly stock! And which turbo kit whould you recommend, like a bang for the buck...cuz im not into it =)

I was planing to install valve springs, cam's, etc...but first i would like to clarify this doubts =)

Thanks!

Im sorry for the double posting, but i was searching, and i found this

This kit costs 2400 pounds, wich is like 3500 dolars...here in Portugal we cant import things from the US cuz since ur out of the European Union the stuff i bought would get stuck in the border or whatever they call it :S

Cheers

$3500US is a lot of money for a turbo kit....

you can build yourself a better turbo kit for WAY cheaper....

you need to do research....

That's what i was thinking, i see your configurations and i know that with 3500% you rebuild your engine, buy and install the kit...

Here in portugal we dont have all the parts that you have in US...but we can import some of them...
Can you guide me more or less to where i should research about this?
Sorry :$
Thanks

EDIT:

This is probably an ebay turbo kit, which sucks, ive seen some topics about it...but tell me what you think...here in portugal i can get it for arround $1300US

it depends who you ask about ebay turbo kits, some people say they are s**t, some people have actually used them for quite a while and havent had too many problems. but basically that is the turbo kit, you would still be missing some fuel work, tune, and some other odds and ends. For what its worth, I would listen to alot of other people, building your own turbo kit, will be cheaper, or more reliable in the long run.

if your not wanting alot of power you can use dsm 450cc injectors, stock rail is good for 400 iirc might as well get a walbro 255 fuel pump

So fuel pump, injectors, turbo exh mani, turbo, intake mani maybe after a while...

And what about dump valves and other valves, what would i be needing?
I was planing to buy a Garrett GT28RS (In the site the only one is GT2860RS, but i think its the same thing...) because its the one that edelbrock uses in their kits...
What do you guys think of the Drag turbo exhaust mani?

Whithout changing (for now) valve springs, valves, and all other stuff, only the b16a2 stock with the turbo kit, tuned...maybe 7-8 psi...what power should i expect? 230?
Thanks :D

I'm sorry i didnt research a lot in the beggining, i just knew the very basics on this matter, but now i discovered the Forced Induction / Nitrous Archive / How To's :P I hadnt seen it the first time...and after a few hours reading and writing a lot (yeah i wrote 4 pages by hand of stuff :D ) i've come up with an almost complete turbo configuration...please comment :P

Spark Plugs - 4 x BKR7E
Fuel Pump - Walbro 255lph
Clutch - Some stage 3, still have'nt chosen the brand...(do i really need a stage 3 to <300hp? I chose it cuz it is best if i want to upgrade in the future, im clutch ready for more hp :P)
Gauges - Boost, EGT, Oil and Fuel Pressure
Injectors - So that the fuel pressure is kept between 40 and 60 psi (safe pressure range right?) i thougt 440cc would be good...(What would you say? Too much?)
Turbo - T3\T4 or a GT28RS (Any other option?)
Exhaust Manifold - This one i dont know wich to choose, i still have to see which brands are available here in Portugal, but maybe a custom built one would be good right?
Wastegate - Maybe a Tial one...7\8 psi
Intercooler - Same as Exhaust Mani
Dump Valve - I already have an idea of the most realiable ones...now i wanna hear them, just need to spend some time on youtube and i'll chose one :P
Fuel Management - Maybe a Hondata S300 or something like it, what u think?

I'd obviously be changing my water and oil pumps and other stuff, and doing a leak down test and compression test too...

Comment plz

A leak down and compression test is a good idea. you're right on target with the fuel management. The clutch you mentioned will be good as well as the walbro 255. dsm 440cc injectors should be fine since you only want to run around 7psi. when you think you've done enough research, research some more! good luck.

Hum if i plan in the future to run more than 8 psi, like 10\12...(with a bigger rebuild and a lot more mods) i should probably need bigger injectors right? If i install bigger with this setup will the fuel pressure be too low? Or i can install them now and save money? (Cuz buying the 440's now and in a few months buying another ones is throwing money away, unless it really necessary :P )

Any part missing in my list?
Thanks :D

EDIT: Im probably going to 550's, cuz you'l be using them too, and you also want a low boost setup for now...just like me.

Yes, you could use bigger injectors than 440's. I wouldn't go crazy with it though. I plan on using 550's on a low hp setup.

So you plan on running low boost for now, and then changing your setup a few months later to make much higher numbers? why don't you shoot for higher numbers in the first place and save yourself time, hassle, and money? just my opinion:thumbup:

Dont turbo your car unless you have full understanding of how it works, how to do it, and how to maintain it.

bud6770 what do you mean?

Top Gear ill just start with low boost for now...i dont have all the money to start with hi boost now...so ill have fun with 7-8 psi while i gather some money :P

Cheers

I didn't read the entire thread...

I have the greddy kit and don't like it because of the mitsu turbo. I'm going to have to upgrade my entire system soon to a garret turbo which isn't compatible with my manifold, dp, IC pipes, etc...

I'd go with the edlebrock stuff because they use garret turbo's

One of my last posts i said i wouldnt go for a kit :P But no prob i understand you didnt read the hole thread...

What have you done to your engine before installing the turbo kit?

internals are stock. I'm running 8lbs and made just over 250hp for 2 years now but its going to need a build soon. If you're not going to go with a kit make sure you buy decent parts when putting together your system.

Why are you going to rebuild it? Is the boost creating problems?

I dont think you have read the hole thread :P

What would you guys say of $240US for a BLITZ DD BOV or $300US for a HKS SSQV2 Black BOV?
And $120US for a Walbro 255lph?

I've read that the ebay intercoolers have been used by some people without issues...also in one of the FAQ pages one user said that they are not bad...

Does it really make that much difference if i use a 71cm x 23cm x 6.5cm ebay IC instead of spending more money in another quality IC?
This ebay IC costs $190US
