you can always drive there too... just hook everything up except for the charge pipe from the turbo to the IC... skip injectors as well

you know, there is such a thing as OVERspinning a turbo...

cause a shitload of heat, burn up seals, ruin the bushings. not a good idea..

unless hes beating the s**t out of it, that wont happen, without all the added heat from the turbo spoolign itself, it will spool very, very slowly, and probably wont overspin unless you really get on it.

itll have less CFM flowing through it compared to when its boosted.

oh yeah.. make sure you have good ventillation if you do this though hehe

a friend of mine did that one the way to the track, his ECU was F'in up so he swapped the stock ECU and injectors in then unhooked the chargepiping. It got him home, but I don't think it would be the smartest Idea to drive all the way to Chicago like that...

here's the way i see it...

i build 12 psi by 3300, and psi is resistance on the snail causing it to not spin as fast as it would normally. if there were no WG to open, and no charge pipes to build pressure in, that turbo is going to spin easier than it ever would in any other situation. the exhaust is still flowing through the turbine, which WILL spin the turbo.

im sure if he is VERY easy on it, he will be fine. but all it takes is load on the engine and the vacuum dropping under 10hng, and that this is going to start spinning like crazy
