my axles have been in my car for over 6 years now and they have been beat to hell from my turbo for quite a while. They are still holding up good, but i know for a fact they are not going to last much longer before they either break or rip.so i wanted to replace them while im doing my trans swap and i was just wandering if i should just go with another set of stock axles(seeing how long they lasted),or get some hi-performance 'stage3' axles. The thing is,my one buddy ran slicks on his turboed Si at the track and broke a hi-perf. axle clean in half, thats why im afraid to use one now.however,i did run across these too:

anybody with some former experience have any suggestions?thanks

WOW, you really think you're gonna have axle issues after all this time........................unless your at the track every weekend runnin' seven to ten 1/4 mile runs on very large slicks, they're not worth it, and about that HP number that was mentioned C'MON be real, than you would never be able to touch the street.........you would have zero traction. unless your runnin' huge slicks like Steph or Kubo. Just go down to AutoZone and buy the lifetime warranty replacement axles, if anything happens you can pop it out and go back to the store and grab another one........If your runnin' all that horsepower, you gotta be a tuner and changin' axles should only take ya about 15 minutes at the most.......$1200 for axles, are you guys stupid or dumb???

ok yes I understand that I wont be able drive the car daily with that kind of power...but what I dont understand is what would stop me from just turning the psi down while I'm not at the track??? I dont get why everyone rags on my idea. Granted I wont run that time on the street or street tires BUT I dont want to race on the street anyway...so what would stop me from turning it down for daily driving usage and then when I go to the track throwing slicks on and cranking the boost back up?

EDIT: Just saying...I dont mean to come off arrogant or an attitude of I'm right you are wrong. This is just my thoughts and I could be very wrong...so if so just correct me. thanks. =)

I hope you aren't refering to me...cause then you'd be the dumb one. See, I had the choice of either:

A) Buying STRONG aftermarket axles to support the new power (can't use 90hp rated axles in a 200hp car and the Pre's are too long ;))
OR
B)Making my own axles using prelude/accord/integra parts which will constatly snap....

Hmm...which would you choose?

Not tryin to be a d**k, but honestly...for certain applications, buying custom axles makes sense. As for $1200 axles, yeah, I agree, no way is your car gonna be making THAT much power to the wheels...and if it is, mad props to you LOL

well I was talking to someone that has more knowledge and has done more honda swaps than anyone on here and he told me to get near 11s I would need atleast 350 hp...those axles for 1200.00 are rated for 500 hp..so I figured that would be the one I need to go with

IMO i would just stick w/ the stock gsr axles. they are not bad at all and they dont cost much to replace if they break and i would much rather have an axle break than screw up my tranny. there always has to be a weak link and i'd rather mine be a $70 axle

i still have gsr axles in my car and they have held up just fine so far on 20psi (granted i dont drive the car all the time and only get to race at the track in the summer). almost all of my buddies out here running 15psi+ are also still running stock axles as well. i even talked to this guy who ran a 10 sec run at test and tunes (high altitude) in his street hatch and he too was using stock axles.

just bcoz the are "rated" for 300hp+ does not mean they will never break. to me, its not worth i to spend that much. alxes break . . . u just have to replace them

yea i talked to my buddy last night,he said he had the driveshaftshop stage 1 axles in his car when he broke one(and he wasnt even near the HP mark for those axles).that just assures me even more that these hi priced axles are def. not worth it.i decided to just keep the regular old axles in and just wait till one breaks to throw in the same one,its not worth all that cash when i could use it on something more important.

Okay Timmy now be a good boy and have a huge bong hit of reality check......................running high boost and low boost means running two different programs on your stand alone EFI system(cause that's what it takes to run a huge amount of power on a Honda on a daily basis) which takes a large amount of time on a dyno............than there's the cost of replacement parts(i.e. spark plugs, and lots of them) your gonna be changin every week.........and when you are behind the wheel of a 10 second Honda on the street, there is not gonna be any traction, even under no boost. Why? you may ask because the car is so light.......ever try driving a Civic with an B16, B18, or even a H22 , well you're gonna have serious issues trying to feather the three-puck unsprung race clutch with street tires, even drag radials. And it's real fun when the interior is gone and the flow through exhaust is loud enough to make your ears ring, and all you're runnin is a race seat, five point harness, roll cage, stripped out dash, and rattling plastic windows..................see I know what it takes to run a competitive race car on the street....been there done it. Oh unless your not that serious, than your just one of those poser's that talks alot of s**t, and is not serious about hittin' the numbers...............so in your statement of I'm right, you're wrong............until you've done it, or broken enough s**t to fill a garage, than maybe you could step up and say who's right and who's wrong. I've been doin' this s**t from the beginning and I KNOW! ..........Hey wait what did the first ten second Honda have for axles, oh yeah, they were stock, and went the whole season with breakin' one.......MMMMMMMmmmmmmmmm, and for someone who supposedly knows "what it takes", sounds like someone's tryin to make a little money.
