Good Advice Grendel, I don't see any mods worth making without a swap. Thanks everyone!

The cx motor is probably the worst motor in the 96-00 lineup.....Pitch it =)
I disagree, best trim to have that motor in though. I'd get a CX over an LX or HX anyday.

Note to anyone who doesn't know:

The D16Y7 came in the CX (hatch), DX (coupe/hatch), and LX (coupe/sedan) trims. The CX is bare-boned as a Civic came from the factory and also is in the lightest body style anyway. The HX's D16Y5 might have 9 more horsepower than the Y7, but it also has VTEC-E, which well I'm just nto a huge fan of, and 9 horsepower in the same chassis is going to be hard to notice. It's just not a massive difference.

spend money on everything EXCEPT the motor. its not worth spending a cent on, trust me. get wheels, lower it, get a sound system, suspension work, brakes, work on the interior...do all of that stuff if you are staying with the cx motor. even with i/h/e you wont feel a difference at all and you wont be any faster. save all your money that you would spend on motor mods for a swap, dont boost that cx thing either. b16's and b18's get good mpg for the power they put out. i just got 330 miles on my last tank, 300 of those on the highway above 4.5k rpm the whole time on my b16.

to sum it up, make the car look how you want it, or work on suspension and brakes, because anything you do to the cx motor wont be worth the money.

Want to be just a tad quicker. EX tranny, clutch and No2. Still the same great gas mileage with a additional pep when you demand it.
