Just some tips and advice:
dont be afraid of buying used. You'll end up saving a ton of money if you pick up used equipment.
dont be afraid of picking up old school equipment, just do your research. You'll often find great oldschool stuff on craigslist and what not
when buying wire, remember, just do it right the first time. This is ur first system, chances are ur going to want to upgrade the first time. Just spend the extra bucks and buy 1/0 wire, and run it to a distribution block and 4 gauge from there
dont get caught up in gimicks like sony xplod, and whatever other crap they're trying to sell u at best buy and forget that the term 'max power' even exists
remember that ur sub only be as good as the enclosure you put it in. Try and put some work in and build your own box to spec.
dont ever underestimate sound deadening, it's one the greatest investments you can make, for car audio
