A few of you may know that My car used to be equipped with some ricer-lights (see pic below.) Well, the other day I was driving home from a friend's house late at night, around 11:30. Traffic was nonexistent, so I was doing a casual 25 in a 45 (chill mode) A city cop was posted up beside some bushes, and I didn't think anything of it. About a mile down the road where the speed limit jumps to 65, I got on it pretty hard. About the same time, the previously mentioned cop comes out of nowhere with his lights on. I pulled over, expecting a lecture about unsafe acceleration (in a civic, lol) or disturbing the peace or something.
First thing the officer says as I hand him my info is, "Are you a cop?" I say no, and he points out that I'm displaying blue lights in my grille. Anyway, he goes on about emergency vehicles and whatnot, writes me a ticket, and gets called out for a wreck.
I've called the county clerk's office around 15 times since then, and still haven't been able to contact her. I'm not sure how much the ticket will be, but I don't really care now. I looked up the state laws just now, and found out that blue lights are legal, just no flashing blue. Hopefully i can get a hold of the clerk today after school and discuss my findings.

I got rid of the lights the next day, they are in the trunk now.. I needed lights back there anyway.
This was also my 12th time to be pulled over, first time to ever get a ticket. It was bound to happen some day.

He gave it to me with a note to call the county clerk to see how much the fine would be, then he took off, pulled a U-turn, and headed back into town.

edit* He never even said his name, and It's illegible on the citation; I just know it starts with a D and ends with S.

I was going to get green or amber lights since they would look better/not be as ricey as the blue, and they are for sure legal.

ya f**k em he didnt report s**t i bet he just wanted to stop the civ
I'm sure he did report it, He was on the radio in his car for almost 10 minutes. In a town of 5000 people, there is no such thing as a fake cop, everyone knows everyone, and he had the new stealth cruiser (blacked out charger, with dark gray police decals, interior light rails, and flashing red/blue halos)

I thought that all underglow stuff was illegal when driving? and you could have any color but red/blue when parked. but nothing when you are driving...

in Texas you can have any color according to Title 7 Subtitle C Chapter 547 Subchapter A Section 547.305, just no red visible from the front, and no flashing/strobing blue.

My first car was a riced out Corolla. It had those windshield shooters that lit up blue. I didn't get a ticket, the MP was cool about it and just told me to disconnect them when I get home or where ever I was going.

But, he was saying you can't have red, blue, green or orange lights on a moving car. strobing or constant.

Way back when I first got my car, I put blue license plate lights in.... needless to say I was pulled over by a statey and also lectured about emergency vehicles.. He said if he caught me again I could be fined $300 and possibly license suspension for "impersonating a police vehicle". Either way he slapped me with a HUUUUGE $25 fine for insufficient lighting, and let me off. I took out the lights, replaced them with the OEM bulbs, appealed the ticket, won and saved myself a whopping $25...

I would never do what EG6 LIFE said to.

Directed at EG6>> If a cop pulls me over for something stupid, I'm not going to argue or draw more attention to myself afterward. I'll just take whatever I get, and if it's BS like this ticket, I'll take it to court later. There is nothing wrong with dealing with citations like this one in the way you are supposed to.

I finally spoke to the county clerk; the fine is $297.00.

I called up my gf's brother, a local sheriff's deputy, and he said that I should take it to jury trail, and his friend (a lawyer) will represent me for little or no fee. (He has a GTI with blue neons.) This might not be necessary, however, because I contacted the officer who wrote the ticket, discussed section 547.305 with him, where "beacon" is defined by Webster's as any light, told him that I had removed the lights and that I was unemployed, and he said that he'd consider dropping the charges. He's going to call me back tonight or tomorrow to set up a meeting to discuss it further. Hopefully it all goes over well. The officer seems like a nice guy, so hopefully we can work it out.

As for EG6's advice to "f**k 'em," about 99.999% of the time; it doesn't work. The fuzz isn't too bad if you aren't too bad to them.
