blackberry update!!

i did it last night and it f**kED my phone up.

it said there was a fatal error during the update then my phone wouldnt turn on for a few hours. when i woke up this morning my phone was on but EVERYTHING was erased out of it, contacts, themes, pictures etc. totally wiped my phone out.

and it wouldnt let me install new things (facebook, myspace, etc.) and it was freezing like every 10-15 mins. i went into verizon after work and they gave me a new phone that works fine now, luckily i had my contacts and s**t backed up on my comp. im thinking about using my update and buying the Tour, im so f**kin tired of this phone, its givin me nothing but problems. or i may wait for the Storm 2, but im not sure that i want to gamble with it being a shitty phone again.

no it has to be thru computer for now. they just released it on the 25th nd no they didnt include the visual voice mail that was already there nonetheless you still have to pay for it.. nd the sms txt message system is like the blackberry messenger. changed a few things here and there but not too much. im guna need some new themes tho cuz old ones wont work anymore took me a good 30-40 minutes to update mine.

damn thats the good thing bout these berries is that you can back em up on the comp nd yea im kinda getting tired of the storm now too but im sure this update will keep me on it for a few more months at the least. nd yea ive heard some good things bout the tour. nd i really dont think the storm 2 would have too many new things considering you can just get an update on your storm whenver its realeased

the storm 2 has quite a few new things.

its got wi-fi, no moving parts, all of the software has been improved. much more sleek looking as well.

well if you got unilm data usage on the internet no use for wifi. nd wat do u mean by no moving parts?
well once that software is released itll be available for the storm 1 wouldnt it? i would think so

the storm2 fixes the lag in the camera, but so does 5.0 now.
has wi-fi. which would be nice sometimes to be able to use a real browser without the wait.
and has a 4 button screen vs. the 1 button the storm has now. if you ever found a dead spot in the corners, that's what it fixes

and about that fatal error, i got that 2 or 3 times, I just kept doing it over, it starts where it stopped at soo it wasn't that bad for me

i found this about OS 5.0: I havent went through the whole thing yet to see it in action.

yeah I got the fatal error last night too but it didnt erase anything. so im gonna try again today and now pray that it doesnt wipe my s**t out! guess Ill be doing a backup before I try this again lol. I like the idea of the sms being more like the BBM though. I love BBM

just don't unplug your device when you get a fatal error. go back through and do it again to restart from where it left off at

yeah too late, I had done that last night. lol. but now I got it all uploaded and I like it. I think its a vast improvement. programs open smoother and look better, and the sms doesnt look so outdated. now it's more on par with the iphone or G1 style, which I like a lot considering my last phone was a G1. all in all they get a from me on the update.
on a second topic for anyone with a storm in 3g coverage... does your phone show the little blackberry symbol next to your signal strength when your in 3g or does it say 1XEV? when I look at the owners book it says it should show the blackberry symbol when im in 3g, but I have NEVER seen that it always says 1XEV and I'm definatly in a Verizon 3g coverage area.

i have no idea either i have had the storm for 2 months an i live in a 3g area an all i ever have is1xev

If you have Verizon then it will never show up as being in 3G. Verizon's entire network is 3G so anytime you have service you are in 3G.

oh i never got a fatal update on mine
nd yes they improved the slowness on the camera and on opening the apps which is frkn sweet. but mine keeps erasing my app world application tho anybody have the same problem? it says yahoo msngr is archived nd when i delete that it also deletes the app world app.

son of a B! your right, my appworld is gone and so is my Facebook app. but it kept my google maps, my mobile checkbook and my Weatherbug program. but it erased my freaking access code to the weatherbug and I have no clue where to find it! frick!

lol i had to reinstall facebook,myspace,appworld,aim but make sure that when ur updating ur phone to back it up on ur computer....cause i know someone that lost all contacts music,an pics
