this car is sick he bought it from a junkyard in spring of 05 with a KA24E with an auto in it. he bought for $400, it was there for a week, only problems where rod knock and that we could find a speck of rust which is really rare around here, also the paint not in the best off shape. he did DOHC swap as well as a auto to 5-speed conversion. he was origanally going to do a SR swap but desided not to. While engine is out he repainted and re organized the engine bay, color is dodge inferno red crystal pearl sure of the name. The motor is completely rebuilt with crower forged rods, wiesco 9.0:1 pistons, ARP head and main studs, a cometic head gasket. most of the emissions systems and useless stuff on intake mani is gone, we also ported and polished the head and manifolds and did a valve job.

your friend is a smart man, as is anyone who advised him on the potential of the ka24. too many people just jump on the sr bandwagon even if they have a ka24de sitting under their hood. keep us updated. :thumbs up

evryone is still telling him that he should have gone sr, but im with u guys and him, he would have spent more on the swap than he did on mods for this ka24, plus ive ridden/driven in 240s with both and i wasnt impressed with the sr's performance compared to the ka24's, so i say as far as 240's go KA-T FTW!!

when it takes nearly half as much money to make a ka24de do what a sr20 does, i still can't figure out why people look to the sr20, unless they have one laying around, or worse, a ca18...

swapping to a smaller motor just boggles my mind.

yea another guy up here has a ca18 swaped fastback and, to ld him he should have just done a b18c swap and boost it cause then at least he would have vtec:lol:, lol he didnt like that too much, but its pretty pathetic when my b16 was puttin down better times than his, i think peopel over look the potential of the ka because it didnt come stock with a turbo like the sr20 and the ca18, plus ive found alot of people doing the sr sswaps have no clue what the car is capable of and and jsut have the car to say they have the car, idk thats just my opinion

your buddies car is lookin nice :thumbs up

CA>KA-DE>SR>KA-E

i would build a KA, but the one i have is single cam, and is knocking, and theres no twin cams in the J/Y but there is minty fresh CA18DE sittin in there that has my name on it...

and my turbo just came in the mail today

EDIT: to those hating on the CA...do some research. the CA is basically the same platform as an RB with 2 less cylinders. they have TONS of potential. and are cheap.

yes, because swapping to a motor with less potential is pure genius.
the ka24de has a bulletproof bottom end and is built for boost.
the bonus 0.6L displacement makes it such a logical choice.
it's like going from an h22a to a b16.
