And the header is technically "behind" the motor, except Honda rotated their engine 180 degrees so it appears to be in the front. All relative, and just a tid-bit of knowledge for ya.

not entirely true,look at other manufacturers also, the eclipse, mirage, lancer, sentra, 200sx, pulsar, cavalier, sunfire, neons, focus, galants, mx6, mx3, probe, civics, preludes, accords, integras, excluding v6 models, and i know there are other cars but i can't think of the rest, but hey im sure others can.

Japan is crazy. Because in actuality there is a third derivative of the ZC motor. For some reason, there are the 2 that you mentioned(I have the SOHC VTEC one), there's the dohc and yes, a SOHC Non-VTEC ZC. Don't ask why, but there is. A freind has on in his 4th gen hatch.

alright man im gonna be brutally honest with u, if u dont know the differece between a "head" and a "header" or b-series and d-series motors do not touch anything on your car....HIRE SOMEONE....

Hi all,

I have a JDM 92 Civic Si with a D16A8 (Japanese ZC) Engine and I am thinking of installing a VTec header. I am kind of a n00b when it comes to engines so I need a low-down of what is involved in a header conversion.


Firstly, how expensive would this conversion cost?

Secondly, would I need to source original Honda parts or are there aftermarket conversion kits available?
