snoopy316- the brand summaries are almost spot on, but best buy is a rip off, they ARE in it for the $$, not customer service, and the 4year service plan is a waste it doesnt cover most things that happen to speakers, even if they install (or attempt to) the components. I've been installing for a while and have NEVER had any problems with my work in any vehicle i've installed in. Most big places like best buy half ass jobs, run power and rca wires next to each other, and have left exposed bare wire in most of the work i've seen from them. Find someone local you trust to put stuff in, most smaller, personal installers do a better job at hiding wires, and wire them correctly, and acually care about what the job looks like and how it performs. I personally test and inspect every job i've done, mainly because if any of my customers ever have a problem, I can tell if someone else has messed with it and will fix any problems that arise. im not a pro by any means...
you can always do it your self too... buy a GOOD wiring kit, and have some fun with it.
well, i guess it depends on the area. i myself am MECP certified and am an installer at Best Buy full time. i used to do it on my own and never had a problem, now i do it and earn money for it, so i can't go wrong. u will have some installers who care less about a customers car, but not me. to date i have only had customers come back for more work, not for cheap work.

the 4 yr service BB offers is good for subs and speakers cuz most of the time they are replaced on the spot. for alpine and pioneer headunits, they will be sent out for service cuz the manufacturer doesnt replace easily unless the product is a lemon.

unfortunately, buying retail price sucks. if u can get a deal, go ahead. i like the alpine type s because for the price they are not bad. lucky for me the employee discount ROCKS!

I dont get the hostility people have towards Best Buy?
I am the Install senior at my store.
I know we seem to have our share of customers that will never be satisfied no matter what. But for the most part, we do some of the most solid work in town. Probably getting 50% of the mobile video in the city.
the People that dont seem to like us cuz in my bay are the people that try to get something for free. It just doesnt fly.

This is an interesting thread.

You know what? You might actually be happy with Sony. I mean you are upgrading from Dual.

The Best Buy here in Arlington is a joke. They never have anything in stock and there displays are half assed.
Maybe they are poorly managed or understaffed. Who knows?

My experience with Sony was not good

Actually, it's an Aiwa. A division of Sony.

It would periodically refuse to eject the CD in it and sound quality was okay at best. But the controls were logical and easy to use.

best buy to most ppl is just about electronics in general cuz they dont have the best out there, so ppl just put it down.

u'd be suprised how many ppl i get in the store b/c of word of mouth. i had a cop come in with his personal vehicle, an 03 denali on 24's, tv, and all the good s**t. i finished off his car by doing a system. a few weeks down the road, we get a few more city employees in sayin how their "friend" told them to come there. so once ppl know what we do, they will be happy. its just the first impression kills us cuz they dont know the skillz! 8)

just did a setup. 2 10" p2 powered by a rockford 3002 amp. sounds pretty decent and b/c of discount, he paid only $275 for everything.

Rockfor p-3 has to be the worst sub ever designed by fosgate to date. Cones cracking from the movement of the woofer. Magnet motors breaking loose from the assembly cuz they are only glued on. Utter crap
