I was about to clear my headlights tomorrow, so i decided to go and get some amber colored bulbs (stock are clear), becuase i am taking out both reflectors (96-98 civic). well... i couldn't find any. i think the bulb is 3496, and i was just wondering if anyone knew of any other bulb that would work, or what everyone else did to make their bulbs orange? Thanks for any help

yeah, i noticed that when i changed mine, i just got some orange ones with the same size base as the old clear ones you had, the glass part will be a little bigger though. or you can get the chrome blue ones at Kragen that light up orange, but they're $20 for the pair

No kragen around my parts... so you just got the same voltage bulb, with the same base on it and it all worked good? Doesn't that mess up your wiring? What are those crome ones called, if you know off hand?

any napa or autozone or pepboys probably has those, it just happens there's a kragen on every friggin street here. it doesn't affect your wiring, bulb still works the same, at the same voltage, it just colored orange. and i think the bulbs are called sylvania superstars i think.

damn it, i was just at autozone and checker... i guess i will be making a trip back tomorrow. thanks for the help. How long did it take you to do both headlights? and how long did you have to leave your lights in the oven for? Temp should be 200-225 right?

i did mine at 225 for 10 min, its really quick taking out the orange parts, like 5 min. You'll be able to put them back together while thery're still warm. Then you'll prob have to clean up some of the goo off the lights, so have some goof off too.

i had some ready but i didn't need it, there's enough of the stock stuff on there to seal it back up. its been a couple rainy months and no leaks, so it must have worked.

I did my headlights with a hair dryer and they look pretty good. Resealed them and have been through 3 rainstorms and no fogging so =)

I found the amber bulbs I got at Autozone in the rice section. I think the bulb is like a 4448 and my bulb is a 4440 still works. Had to buy another set for the new si/ex taillights last night.

FYI- Schucks, Kragens, Checkers are all the same place, just different names. I dont know why, but thats the way it is. Just to let you know, so if someone says to go to kregens you know they mean schucks or checkers.

Your headlight turned out pretty good Noel.
I had one of my corners done and got into a hurry on the second and chipped a little piece of the corner off. Drat. Had to buy cheap clears.
The 1157a bulbs I got to replace the smaller ones fit fine. They are the only APC parts on my car.

Thanks, It took a little work but ang wouldnt let me use the oven to do the project so I figured a hair dryer was just as good. I kept the orange cones on the lights this time b/c autozone only had one pair of the amber lights and those were for the tails.

You could do it to the clears! or if you were closer I'd help =)
