is there anyway to install a tach into an existing cluster, like one that doesnt have the temp and the gas gauge on the same side....

It would be soooo much easier to just purchase an Ex or Si cluster.

They do make little gauges that show RPM's though. I wired one up in a Dx hatch and it worked good. I tapped in to one of the wires on the cluster harness.

go to the junk yard and pull one. its no big deal and you might be able to swap in the one you have plus some cash... then all you gotta do is match the miles

you swap the speed-o out into the cluster with the tach. No matching necessary. Its just a few screws to get it out.

ok i just dont want to spend over 300 bucks for an si cluster, and i found a cluster for 60 bucks that reads 220 kilometers but doesnt have a tach though
I wouldn't spend $60 on an automatic cluster that reads in KM/h either.

You can get a CRV cluster for $80 from LKQ online or eBay with low miles in auto or manual, you have a 99 correct?

No to LKQ, they don't show any 97-01 CRV clusters in stock.
You won't get a manual cluster off of eBay for $80 either, since they're harder to find and more popular.
You can get an auto one for around $80 though.

yes a 99, and just want to be different, and see what its like to have a cluster that reads kmh rather then mph

its not that fun..my ek4 cluster was obviously read in kmh..having to guess your speed isn't for everyone..

f**k lkq. They're over priced n the products r over priced.

I worked for them n I know all the secrets.

after working there the only lkq I trust is the self service ones. I would never order parts.

It can be a pain, especially when it really matters, but not impossible when you have to guess how fast you're going or do the conversion in your head.
For quick reference and what helped me gauge my speed, 100Km/h is just over 60mph.

yeah mr baker i knew that, and technically kmh goes by 20 everytime rather then 10 everytime like mph... like when it says 10 mph you are going 20 kmh... i was just wondering if you could swap a rpm gauge in an existing one that didnt have an rpm gauge

No, that's not how it works.
Divide by .6 to get MPH.

The cars are already pre-wired for clusters with a tach, it would just depend if the cluster without a tach is wired to accept the tachometer.
Based on Honda's cookie cutter concept of the past, to save money in production cost, it just made sense to wire them up this way, then based on model they could add the correct cluster to it.
So if I had to guess, I would say yes, the cluster might be wired the same way.

I added a ex cluster to my 5gen. the ex cluster has the tac. No wiring needed. It was plug n play.

i was talking about adding a tach to the existing cluster not adding a tach to a car, since my honda already has one, if anything i could buy that kmh, and take out the tach, the temp, and the gas gauge, to add them to the one that reads KMH, if anyone has done that before??

I swaped a cluster out of a Acura 1.6.... Mine is from an auto, but I removed the bulbs, and taped behind the letters! It's got the tach, and they look pretty dang cool with red markings! If you wanted to add a tach, it would be possible, but probobly not worth your time!

dude, you can add a tach to your existing gauge cluster.....but look at it for a second....and realize what gauges you'd end up missing. So, swap an entirely new gauge cluster into your car that has a tach

well child i was just thinking, i could spend 60 bucks for the cluster, and like i said a few posts up, take the rpms and the temp/ gas gauge and add them to the 60 buck one
