@ mc360 We have no emissions tests here in Florida, none that are mandatory at least. The car came from NH and im from Mass so I know what you are talking about as they have the test req. up there. Most mechanics that have looked at it can tell it's been up north w/ the road salts bc it's pretty rusted. I'll post pics of the mani/cat a little later. The shield on both is pretty corroded.

Part comes in on Thursday. :D
If it's the stock manifold, it's cast iron. Most welders don't like cast iron at all, and few will actually weld it, because they know that it won't hold for long. A new manifold is safest and easiest, for sure.

That makes me feel better because that's the info I was given. One of the junkyards was telling me that another junkyard out of town was pulling all the old manifolds and either re-selling as-is or welding them to be re-sold. Must be a popular part haha

Junk yards wont usually sell you used cats, because the metal in them is worth more as scrap than you'd be willing to pay for it.... less about emissions, more about $$$.

Just get the cheapest aftermarket autozone/advance auto replacement you can find or check craigslist... none of them are going to be very good, but that gives you incentive to save for a real header, high flow cat and a decent exhaust system.

Was there a code for the o2 sensor? if so, what was the code?

Ya I was just reading that the catalytic converter has platinum in it when looking up what to do with the old part. Pretty cool =)

Code P0135 OBD-II Trouble Code refers to the front oxygen sensor on Bank 1, Sensor 1.

P0135 is the heater circuit failure code. I'm afraid there's no fixing that, and it will have to be replaced also.

@Jean99civic What did you end up deciding on? I can't subjectively tell the difference in noise, I had no exhaust from the front pipe back for a couple years lol.

If anyone wants pictures, let me know.
