I would never recommend putting an amp on a sub box.. thats just asking for trouble
Agreed... asking for trouble and its a ghetto rigged setup, mount amps to the floor of the car or the back of the seat as shown in some of the examples given

Get your s**t stolen hella easy if they are connected.... its like "here I bundled this all up for you and its ready to go, all you have to do it pop out a window, pick it up, and walk away. Have a nice day, if you need any other information just let me know"

you can always bolt the box down...for two reasons...to hold it in place and security...true? and its hella easy to do...(and if you come back with "they'll just rip the box out" then i dont want to hear your information anymore)

Still thats more vibration on the amplifier, vibration on the amp can cause damage, if you mount it on the seat back or the floor it tends to create less vibration with the amplifier and will keep you listening for longer. Its threads like this that remind me WHY we used to push the extended service plans at Circuit City

okay...lets not start a fight about the whole extended warranty thing...i remember years ago when there was a vibration worry about amplifiers mounted on boxes...with the advent of this thing called "technology" and "quality of parts" this is no longer a worry...

now...if you have a cheap amp...then thats another story...

in all my years of installing car stereos i have NEVER had a problem with an amp on a box...dont you think an amp mounted on the trunk of the floor sees more if not harder vibration that an amp mounted on the box?...

this isnt the original topic...you said hella easy to steal...that can be solved...

i say go with the original design and flush moun the amp on top and bolt down the box...

It does make it all one piece... which 1 is better than 2 for a thief (unless your talking about women or cars)

Why not just mount them separate... it looks better anyway, amps on top of subs looks gaudy and poorly done.

i dont know s**t about cars...

car audio...i know all kinds of s**t...and i have always gave way to the proper way of doing things...when i am wrong i say i am wrong...

you CAN do a box with an amp mounted on top...you just have to do it right...you can mount an amp in the GODDAMN HEADLINER IF YOU f**king WANTED TO AND IT WOULDNT MAKE A s**t OF DIFFERENCE TO THE GODDAMN AMPLIFIER...

(ahem)

in any case...do what ya like...just make it look good...and give us some pics...

good day to you sir...i said good day...

...
I had a problem.

Rockford Fosgate Punch400x.

Granted that is pretty old-school but vibration kicked the s**t out of the solder joints.

Resoldered and remounted with simple o-rings to isolate it...no further problems.

My cousin has a cheap Profile amp mounted to the seatback of his Prelude (quaalude). cheap amp, seat back, no problems.

was thinking for anyone worried about vibrations to just put extra padding under it if mounted on top of box. therefore reduced vibrations...

I got 2 designs to put up soon.

That first ones not too bad but I would still mount my amps elsewhere

The amp wouldnt be afected by vibrations. Modern day technology is awsome...
