yea i aligned all the marks up with the oil pump and the cylinder head but i was leaning more to the head when the old motor blew...it broke the crank, girdle, block, and pan but it could damaged the head from being forced up...i was in a rush to build it and just slapped the old head on trying to get it finished. but im gonna pull the head off and take a look and retime it if everything is good...i will post my findings later on tonight...thanks for all the help

ok...i got the head off about an hour ago due to work schedule but i realized that i mite not have had it in time correctly...i set everything to tdc and started it before it died on me...so my question is would i have to turn the crank 3 teeth and then put the belt back on with the head at tdc and the crank 3 teeth off or just both at tdc...

thanks in advance

I would go ahead and change the belt out while you already have it off if it skipped 3. I always align everything to TDC and the marks line up. I am just thinking in the back of my head about the original engine damage and what it could have done to the head...Its a little concerning. I would just align everything TDC and let it rip, if it starts keep a timing light on it to see if it starts to slip time.

The only other time I have had issues similar that I couldnt resolve similar to this I just got fed up and hit craigslist up for a new engine.

ok...i retimed everything and checked for fuel and spark...still no start but i started listening to the motor while it was cranking over and it sounds like it has no compression now...everything is spinning but it just sounds kinda off compared to a stock motor...i was thinin it was the rings but what are the chances of all four going out at the same time? im still stumpped at this motor cuz my h22 built accord never gave me this much trouble after a build???

no it tried to catch earlier today but i wouldnt but could all the piston rings have been damaged at the exact same time...i dont thinks thats possible but it cud happen i guess...but the compression test didnt pull anything on all cylinders!?...i tested it twice and still nothing

Thats horrible news...I have been hoping but something is definitely not right if you are not getting any compression across the board. There could be a few reasons for no compression, all the rings going out, bent valves, etc. The only step from here would be a leakdown test, or pull the pan drop the crank and inspect the bottom end. But by now you could have dropped in a new D. I know its not the greatest news but sometimes when your talking the possibility of some catastrophic failures. Its best to start over.
