Yes, my backing plate on my axle in my truck is mangled (again, from being drug across/into rocks) but the axle itself is still straight.

Is it possible to bend an axle? YES. Is it likely in your case? No.

I'm not 100% familiar as to what type of axle you have in the rear of that thing, but im about 90% sure it's full floating, which means that your backing plate isnt even connected to the shaft itself via bearing or anything like my toyota axle is.

thadoggma, lockers and tq numbers aren't a standing argument.

1372.12 crawl ratio, a toyota 4cyl 3rz (which was swapped into the truck) does about 185-190WTQ on stock gearing. Through math/equations this would put it at well over 2500 wtq in that crawl ratio without any issues.

My point here, it is EXTREMELY rare to bend a shaft when wheeling, and beating hard on a truck. I've NEVER heard of one bending on the street. Especially under braking.

so the backing plate has nothing to do with the axle? im starting to think merchants just didnt want to fix this under warranty so they bullsh*tted me. its just so hard to tell when their lying. last time i went in there, my truck came out with the e-brake light on and it still hasnt gone off. they told me since my abs light was already on, as the abs gets worse it triggers the e-brake light too. i raised hell in that place only to find out what they were saying was true.

I'm gonna defend the cyclist here. If any of you road a "road bike" to work or what not, you would know that you can't ride those bikes on the sidewalk. The rims and tires on some road bikes cost more than rims for a civic. I know some of my friends are rocking bikes that cost more than most peoples cars on here, which isn't the case for all bikes. I mean, let's face it, a cyclist has the same rights on the road as the other vehicles. I am really sorry to hear about your chevy man, but it's the other drivers fault and not the cyclist.

my wife always gets embarassed when I yell out the window at a cyclist, "there's a f**king sidewalk right there dumbass! use it!" I do this often  but only when they're slowing traffic down.

defending cyclist, im a road cyclist, been doing it for years and like said it illegal to ride on sidewalks in some states, and after that my bike cost more than my car is worth, bike tires cost about the same as a good set of car tires $60+, and not to mention wheels upwords of $1000.
cyclist have the same right to the road as the car we also have to follow the same rules, stopping at red lights, signaling when making turns. just remember some states have 5ft law, meaning you have to give 5ft to a bike when passing and stay back min of 5ft also. yelling at a cyclist dosent help much when you startle the cyclist, he swerves and hits your car now you have to go to court and defend your self, cause since your the heavier of the 2 you might have just killed the cyclist cause you wanted to yell, vechiluar manslaughter is a charge you want on your record cause you wanted to yell..

just share the road thats all

yeah well what about all the money im going to have to spend on my truck now? what if i got in an accident? go ride in a 25 mph zone where people actually have time to stop for you. after slamming on my brakes, i continued to go around the cyclist. what if there was a tractor trailer on the other side of the road? i would be dead right now. maybe YOU guys are the selfish ones.

maybe you shouldnt be tailgating other cars so you wont have to slam on your brakes. and you hitting another vechile have a better chance a survival than a cyclist cause your surrounded by a 3,000 lb truck. it all boils down pay attention on the road and thing like this wont happen

share the road

Unfortunately i highly doubt it would stand up in court that it was the drivers fault the cyclist swerved into the motor vehicle. You almost sound like you would be one of the idiots to try and defend that, however. Do you live in Boulder?

I'm courteous to you dumbasses, even when you're hogging the road. I cannot count the number of cyclists I see every year riding more towards the middle of the lane, than on the shoulder where they should be. A little diesel smoke never hurt anyone.

Now tell me, who's fault would it be if I came around a blind corner doing the speed limit (lets say, for this scenario, 45) and one of your dumb asses is in the middle of the lane on the other side of the bend doing your average 8-10mph. I react by swerving so I do not hit you, and I wreck into a guardrail and die.

Do I get to charge you for vehicular manslaughter? After all, you startled me and made me wreck.

Take your share the road BS elsewhere.

in most cities in CA it is illegal to ride a bike on the sidewalk
:word: he was most likely obeying the law and you were tailgating..............sucks...............

You're lucky you didn't hurt yourself/someone else, sounds like a death trap you're driving there.
