dynamat xtreme is about the best sound deadening product you can buy. however, it is pricey, and there are other alternatives that are almost as good for A LOT cheaper. I dont have Rick's (owner of Rammat) # on me, but I will get it for you tomorrow. you can get 64 sq feet of Raammat cheaper than 36 sq ft of dynamat extreme at ebay prices.. i have used both, and have both in my car.. go with the raammat... 64 sq ft for about 130 dollars shipped.

listen to me kiddo...... gromets go where dynamat doesnt.. like inbetween the crossmembers of the trunk, behind your license plate etc.........dynamat is GREAT thats for sure, but gromets also help in places where the matting doesnt fit.

I am completely aware of your intentions with the grommet usage... like i said, if you want to do a hack install on your car, be my guest. there are other options ( waiting for you to suggest cutting up tshirts and stuffing them in there, i have seen that too) that one can use as opposed to your hack method. you won't win this one, or any other argument with me in this section, so quit while you are ahead..

Its not a 'hack' install at all. Its supplemental to the dynamat is all i was saying! you dont even see the gromets b/c they go in first, THEN the dynamat. If he doesnt want to spend $100 on dynamat for his system, the gromet or 'hac' install will work just fine...

This is were (as recommended by MySiIzFaster) gromets or rubber inserted between the two surfaces works best. For non reinforced panels you can use dynamat, one of the off brands, or as I like to use: tarmat for roofing available at lowes or home depot for dirt cheap.
