Yeah gromets will stop the rattles, and the dynamat will deaden the road noise........ can we agree on that at least?

i have worked for 2 of the shops you listed in your prior post, and some installers did it that way. will I do it that way for my vehicles or a friends? no. on time constraints when profit is # 1, a lot of shops will do that, yes. in instances such as trunk rattling where the crossbeams and bracing are causing vibration against the actual lid, I seal off the edges with duct tape, minimal expanding foam, not MAXIMUM ( seen a few people f**k up trunk lids this way) and fill. let cure, then remove duct tape and apply dynamat. rubber grommets are kind of a crap shoot, because most of the time you can never push them back in far enough in certain places. they work, yes, but I have never been a fan of using them

olive branch accepted.

agreed gromets may not be the BEST way.. but it is effective in most cases.....where it fails expanding foam comes in....then dynamat covers... yup.

after all this I hope thee guy that started this thread has a solid answer! lol

I have never used it, but I have heard brown bread is a good/more affordable alternative to dynamat .

This is a funny thread!

that dude was just born to be banned :rolf:

You can use O-rings to dampen some vibration too.

Grommets and Dynamat and the other brands are good too.

I don't really know that Dynamat Xtreme is that much better at what it does than regular Dynamat, but it looks a lot better. :D

yup expanding foam under the cross beams, dynamat extrame. Never heard of rammat but I have heard brown bread is a very good substitute.
as far as door panels, same thing, but you can use the dynamat on the door snaps to tighten them up

Lol, expanding foam is not a cure all, and talk about decreasing the value of the car! It is almost imposible to remove it from the panel of your car once it's on.

Only use expanding foam after trying everything else. If you use foam just spray some shots between the rienforcing beams on the trunk lid and the lid panel itself.

From my experience foam sucks, it looks like ass and doesn't seem to help vibration that much. Plus after time it will start to crumble and you'll get little foam pieces everywhere.

And dynamat extreme doesnt devalue the car. have fun getting that stuff off
you would use the foam first before anything then lay dynamat extreme over it. Which also looks like ass.
I dont recommend to half ass any job. Foam wont do anything without dynamat
