You wont even be able to get into the mid 15's with what you got with just $1k.Robo said:Well i have completed suspension and looks and now its time for the engine. Ive got the wonderful D-series to work with, a 96 dx engine Can a d series even get close to running low 13's with spending 1k or so or should i just swap her for something? I read about b18's all the time and never see any d stuff so i assume they are pretty worthless. but i swap would be much more labor so im just wondering if a d can get any ass for low buck, i could afford a turbo but have red they do little for the D. lemme know what u think.
Yay we actually have an informed person here Har har harSeanMc300 said:yes, d's can get into low 13's for a grand and so can a b series. but that depends on alot of things. im not gonna get into it, cuz itll be way too long. but any d and any b CANNOT make it into lw 13's with 1k. turbo does little for the d?? kid, get your head straight. ive SEEN turbo d's beat a itr swap with i/h/e (in a cx). oh, and the kit he put together, cost him only 900 bucks. dont doubt the lil d, its the little motor that could.
low buck, 13 sec set up
ihi rhb5 turbo
450cc injectors
afc hack
mx6 / probe intercooler
255lph fuel pump
boost controller set at 10psi
done, there ya go. ofcourse youll need charge pipes, tubular manifold, down pipe, and resistor box, oil lines, vacuum lines, tapped oil pan. this is if you wanna go kinda low buck, to go lower, get a fmu and missing link....this way youll also NOT need the larger injectors or the fuel pump, but a high pressure inline booster.
edit: just read you post on spending no more than 2.5k. well you can swap a b16 for that, or you cn turbo your d pretty well. and if you go for the b16, congrats, you just choose to go slower. with 2.5 k you can do
garret t3/to4e (sized at around 57 trim with .48 a/r) new turbo
love fab or full-race equal length mani
custom 2.5 inch dp
johnnyracecar or pwr intercooler
450cc injectors
uberdata (free hondata, but you gotta pay to tune it)
boost set at 10psi with boost controller
this will be a more "reliable, better, quality" kit than the one i mentioned above. still, you will need fuel pump, charge pipes, guages, turbo timer, resistor box (only if dsm injectors are used) if i had 2.5k, id go turbo...and this route.
wow that was long....
GUDE pwns me. Very good.. but im not sure if id ever go NA with a SOHChooked_on4 said:I read an article way back about a guy who had a few mods, the biggest being a gude head kit, it was a d16z6 but he ran 13's w/stock intake. He dynoed every part to garauntee results, he said he could duplicate it for around $1500 he said the most important concern is compresion ratio. This is all off top of my head i can't find that article in my stacks of magazines.
psi is a biproduct which many many many uninformed (read ricers) think what causes problem with motors. In reality, it is tuning (pre-detonation = grenade) and the rods, pistons, and cylinder walls.. HP causes these to breaky2raf said:I saw a video of a 91 hatch with a d15 with the v-tech and custom turbo head on it doing 12's. But the question is HOW MUCH BOOST CAN YOU PUT INTO A D15 before you blow it. People say 8psi, others say 10 psi, what would be the right amount of boost just enought to power a D15 with 150,000 miles one it bot now to blow it.????
headers huh?Robo said:ive heard some civics around here with headers an i think b18s and they sound like s**t, i dunno y but my exhaust is nice and deep and never cracks, thats another thing im worried about with a b18, sound is important to me......
correct. people think that 10 psi on a t25 will be the same as 10psi on a SC 61. they are kinda right, but not. true, both turbos are pushing 10psi, but its the amount of air the SC 61 flows that will make the bigger hp. you strap a sc61 on a stock d16 at 10psi, youll get more hp than a t25 on a d16 at 10psi. while the t25 @ 10psi wont blow the motor, the sc61 @ 10psi will.I Cause Cancer said:psi is a biproduct which many many many uninformed (read ricers) think what causes problem with motors. neven in a million yearsSeanMc300 said:^^^ wrong. with a 1000 i bet you he could run 13's, not low or mid...but high like 13.9999999. depending on driver and who makes the kit for him.
no there's always the dumbass ricers like you who don't know s**t about turbo setups and let companys like greddy charge you 300% of what the kit is worth just for a name. Open your eyes and do some research.edhgreatone said:yea i guess its just that easy to go from a 17 second car to a 13 second car with $1,000... good luck with that... i mean if it was that easy i guess we'd all be doing it
i've had my goals shot down drastically but i have a new goal and it is good.Big Tex said:guess that header was a waste of money eh?
that sucks, I always feel bad for people when they buy a 400 dollar header and then decide they wont need it anymore. Thats why when you start modding your car you need to have a goal.
