Been a CH-46/53/AH-1/UH-1 mechanic for a while now, if you do a good enough job and make friends with the Crew Chiefs (the enlisted guys whose job it is to fly) you can get on a flight here and there. Just be aware that it'll be in addition to your aforementioned 16 hour workday. Shooting a .50cal out the window of a helicopter is fun. :D

I know i'll get the rebuttle of "well my recruiter told me that, and we're super tight!" no s***, he's trying to be your best friend because his OIC (Officer in charge) is telling him he'll get a s***ty FITREP (fitness report) if he dosent pull numbers. Recruiters will f***in buy you dinner and tell you everything you want to hear to make sure you stick it out and get on that bus. Thats all they care about.
This is the most factual post in the entire thread. They start out telling you that they don't have scores and sh*t like that....they do. What you enlist for, and whether you go or not actually matters to them. They just start out with the "It doesn't matter to me if you join or not" to weed out those who aren't serious or may change their mind later on.
