Front wheel not fitting on the rear?

I got my tires at Tires plus, so naturally I wanted to have my tires rotated by them, to keep up with my tire warranty requirements. When I went in there, the mechanic told me that my front tire would not fit on the back. He suggested that this may be an aftermarket tire, that the previous owner bought after an accident. So one of the front rims would not fit properly on the back. I assumed these were all standard steel rims, but wouldn't the rim that works in the front of the car, also work in the rear?

I want to buy the correct rim if need be, since I will hopefully be driving this Civic for years to come, but I thought the fit would be the same for the front and back. It is a 96 Dx sedan. I guess I'll start looking for a rim at the junk yards??

Are the rims stock? If so, then you can grab a set of Honda Civic steelies for real cheap

Is it the wheel that doesn't fit right(size, offset)? Or are the tires oversized? Or both?

yes they are stock rims. The tires are standard size and the rims all appear to be the same, but one of them has holes that do not fit on the back.

If the tire store cant answer a question about a wheel thats very odd. Try another store somthing dosnt seem right.

Yea I guess they think I have a steel rim that was replaced with one that has different sized holes.

That makes absolutely no sense.. If they are talking about the holes for the studs, they are the same front and back and all around. Both the diameter for each hole and the bolt pattern. If they are talking about the center bore, same deal. I'd go somewhere else..

I agree, knowing that the bolts are the same size front and back. I just didn't know what to say to the guy haha. I will be examining this problem closer tomorrow and I'll post pics if I find something interesting.

Also, thank you for the feedback. I was leaning towards the guy at TIres plus being wrong, so hopefully I can prove them wrong and have a routine tire rotation done.

Tires Plus wasted my time

Well I took the supposed "offset rim" that apparently wasn't fitting on the rear pegs and I took it off. I put this wheel on the back with no issues. So this either means that the guys at Tires Plus were busy and didn't want to deal with my rotation, or they are just idiots. Thank you guys for letting me know that I am not crazy and making sure I didn't buy something I didn't need. This is why I avoid tires plus for any real services and I probably will be buying tires somewhere else next time.

Ha, they must have been trying to give you a hard time or something because that makes no sense at all. I know there are idiots at places like that sometimes but you couldn't function at all if you were that stupid.
