Ok, so we got the turbo in today... seems to have decent pull, but still needs some kinks worked out. (not much faster yet)... Downpipe still not in, and timing is off im sure... Plus im pushing too much boost, and cant rev it high, or it will prob pop.

Fitting the flange, and cutting gaskets:

Return flange was 2in bolt centers, had to drill it to 1 3/4
(thanks nathan for part):

Me lookin cool:

Unbolting the still hot header:
(for sale btw)

Tons of harmful metal shavings:

Finally got it in:

I basically live under my car: (oil return was too long, so Ill have to use rubber hose for a few days :o )

First Run:

It moves!!!:

I made it around the block: :goodjob

The distrubeter timing was retarded a few degrees, and the thing bogged like crazy... Fixed that, and it runs alot stronger, but still needs some help. It boosts 5-6 lbs without the bov hooked up, and 7-8 with it (really wierd)
So im leaving it hooked up, and just running it slow until i figure out how to turn boost down. I need to go to the exhaust shop this week, and get my downpipe made... Should be easy, as i already have the dumptube on.

awesome i have the same manifold(looks the same, color and all) but a t3 turbo and i think my internal wastegate is going to hit the ac part also(dont have ac though)(got any tips???? lol)....looks good though....u should just leave the boost as it is...no need to turn it down....im sure ur engine can run 10 psi just fine...with a good tune that is;) nice job though

yep thats the same manifold I will be using also, seeing as it came on my car already so I might as well. But I agree with Chaos, if you tuned it then forget about turning down the boost, run it at 7-8 psi.

y didnt u take off that ac bracket or w/e that was?
its a torque stablizer as well... (theres a bar on bottom that runs to frame)

I had a basemap chip burn by phearable.net set for 6psi. Not sure if I should be running 8 yet, as I havn't had it tuned on dyno, or wideband.

The only way i have found so far to control boost, is to cause a leak in my charge pipe. (kinda ghetto, but works for now.)

pics of the bov? was it the way the turbo is clocked that it hit the torque bracket or because its too "big". that looks like a 14b? cuz if you have fitting problems with that turbo then i might as well forget my t3/t4 :(

question for you... boost level problems aside.. how does it run with just the basemap?

Yea, thats the wastegate acutator... and I could have taken the torque brace (ac mount) off, and been fine. I dont think you'd have much more problem with 14b. It should still fit. You could cut the top section off that brace as well. I did not have to do alot of cutting to get it in. Just use a power tool (ie. sawzall) A hacksaw would take forever. And yes, it is a DSM t25

suprisingly well. Set at stock timing now, and it runs very strong. The power seems to drop off a little in higher gears, and rpm's (ie 2nd at 6k rpm)... but for the mostpart, it seems very safe, and runs strong for a basemap. I will prob run it for awhile.

why did you cut the ac bracket and not just remove it? will it cause more torque steer?

its not a ac bracket in the first place^^^^^ its a torque stabilizer that connects to the frame....

/\ what he said... Its both.
Basemap works fine, just runs rich, and not as efficient.
