I understand you gotta fix your s**t but at the same time that's the perfect opportunity to get a nearly free swap. $1200 from insurance could go to "any shop" but it'd require being out of a car for a lil while and would indeed be a pain in teh ass so i see what you mean but at the same time.....damn.manual swap is the last thing on my mind at the moment.. I'm trying to figure out how to minimize how much I pay.
Looks like I'll go ahead and file the claim, pay the deductible and let the shop do the rest. They just called me with the quote. $1200 for a used (certified with roughly 55k miles on it) transmission and labor. Its $475 for the labor alone, and I doubt I'll find a transmission with that mileage myself and an honest seller at that.
I was heading up to Wisconsin to go kart and mini golf with my family and hit a huge rock on the 94 in the construction area. The state trooper took my info in case I need to file a report with the state. At this point it looks like my insurance will take care of that. Not sure.. I'm trying to calm myself down and sort through all the info in my head.
wait so you got an accident and how bad was the damage of your car, hey at least your ok that's the most important thingmanual swap is the last thing on my mind at the moment.. I'm trying to figure out how to minimize how much I pay.

well I'm waiting on my insurance to see what they say about the $1200 estimate. I haven't really had the chance to think about anything while making a ton of phone callsdamn erick. if you play your cards right, we can win alot here.
f**k no , not at all.insurance will talk with the state trooper etc, maybe I can even recover the deductible. it was in a construction zone so IMO, it's not my fault at all. I was lucky my car made it to the emergency shoulder

dented/cracked my transmission housing
We've been with them for years and have all four cars insured by them. We've been with the current agent for 20yrs^man i hope they dont dish out some BS about your car being really low and placing blame on that. I found out that the more you have insured with the company the better chance you have of getting a great settlement. I got such a good deal bc my parentals have 4 cars and a house under one umbrella. If your parents have everything with one company id push extra hard, get your agent involved (they will go to bat for you for fear of losing the entire contract). F*cking sucks man Im sorry to hear that
