I am getting ready to swap my stock motor for the h22 I have been researching this swap for a while and know that it is not going to be easy. If anyone has some good tips or has done this swap already and can give me some pointers that would be great.

h22 civic

I don't want a new car with an h22. whats the point of having an import that someone else worked on. I believe that it's better when you do your own work. thanks thought

www.h22a.org This is a pretty decent tech site. It use to be alot better as in archieved post but it went down for about 4 months and they lost all the old post.

You should check out the site if you haven't heard of it already. It is worth the read and people there might be able to help too. Although the site is not that alive, not many new post on there as often as this site. But the people are friendly and imformative.

I was thinkin of doin the same in my 98 hatch, the major things im lookin at are: the engine alone (0bd2), how much is that? i can get one for $1,300 and i think that pretty cheap. then ENJO has the mounts for this swap + their stage 2 driveshafts+ new springs+ wiring....thats money. What do you think the average this swap would cost done right?

From what I have read you will end up spending just as much on this swap as you would a B18 swap. So say engine for 1500 dollars, then you are going to have to spend an additional 1500 dollars on misc. parts for the car. From what I read Enjo is going to be right up there as your best bet especially since their springs are made just for a civic with this swap. But the cost althougher is roughly 3000 dollars, give or take.

Just what i read though.

actually a friend of mine just did a h22a in a 5th gen, and it totaled about 6 grand all said and done, and he did a lot of his own work, you have a shop do everything, especially one that hasnt done this swap (or hasnt done it many times) and the labor on it is through the roof. most a h22a "kits" still require some fabricating or cutting to be done, and the shift linkage is very very difficult to get right.

Holy s**t, thats more then what i usually heard. Was that just the engine and suspension installed and completed? Or is that the price of P&P and etc. turbo, whatever? That price seems kinda steep, but if you going to do it you might as well do it right.

Also how long did it take him to complete his swap?

Just make sure that who ever is swapping it knows what they are doing...And you need a mounting kit

Osaka motors is a rip off from what I have heard and read so I wont bother with them, and for putting the motor in everywere I have read about it and talked to people I wont have to move the motor mounts I will be getting actual swap mounts for this swap from the same place I'm getting the motor

then go for it if you feel confident... i mean, its a sick swap, but, you gotta be patient and have money... and osaka is kinda a rip, i went to that site... hmotors.com or whatever. and he gave me a great price on a 97 B16A2 with EVERYTHING, and a spoon computer with LSD tranny...

It will only run me right around 3 grand to put this motor in maybe a little more but I'm doing by myself cuase it costs to much for a mech to do it. if I need any help i can call my friend, his dad is a master mech for honda.

H Motors

Yeah I know it's going to take awhile and cost a pretty penny but what the hell. I am actually getting my H22 from Hmotorsonline. I have talked to them and they are really cool.

Yeah, If I ever learn how to save money that is where I am more then likely going to go. But I noticed they offer 4 H22's (one being longblock) But all of the listing except for the Type-S say 92-95 for the years. I know that there are other engines besides Type-S that are OBD2 but they do not list them as being so. (and being pre 96 I assume they are OBD1) So which engine is OBD2 besides Type-S engine. Or is it just gotta specify what OBD you need when ordering?
