Something I've been thinking about doing too. The stock location is too low and doesn't provide for good sound

I'd be more concerned with safety issues. If you really have to put the speaker that high up into the door, how loud do you need music to be?

Don't get me wrong, it'd be a nice lil project... But if the music is loud, the sound is going more directly into your ear and there would prolly be a less chance of you hearing noises outside your car that you may need to pay attention to.

to me its about raising the sound level...not decibel level...i want the voice to be higher...the stock locations arent all that great for a getting a decent sound stage...

i was thinking just in front of the door lock...its deep enough to where you have room to fit the magnet of the speaker...

i am sure i am going to have to lower the gain of the amp going to them...i have to keep them in check with the rest of the system...i am not all about making my ears bleed...i just would like some more voice and high midbass up higher in the vehicle...

i'd like to think i pay attention on the road to whats going on around me...i have avoided alot of idiots by being aware of the traffic...

Well the SPL, sound pressure level, is measured in decibels. What you want is more vocal(mid) range out of your system which is lost because of inefficient placement and aiming or limitations of the components.

I haven't taken a frequency response of my system...yet, but I am curious to see the stock response and if some Eq would help.

thats why i said "sound level" not "Sound pressure level"...the soundstage is very low due to the placement of the stock speaker locations...

which is what i said....and you repeated...

I wasn't repeating what you said, I was trying to clarify what you said by using the correct terminology. I assumed that by increasing the "sound level" you were not refering to the sound pressure level as "sound level" might imply, but instead wanted to increase the mid-range which is lacking in the response of your system. Correct me if I am wrong.

I Want To Raise The Sound Stage...its Too Low In My Car...i Think A 3.5 Will Solve My Problem...i Wanted To Know If Anyone Has Tried This?...i Dont Care To Get Into A Discussion On How To Properly Set Up A Sound System And The Semantics Involved With It...i Have Been Installing Car Stereos Since I Was 13...i Am A Dj And A Producer...believe Me...i Know What Its Supposed To Sound Like...goddammit...

i thought about kick panels...if i do that i want to put a 6 down there somewhere...i have the resources and skills to do something custom...i thought about cutting and fiberglassing boxes something in to the floor board/kick panel area...thats alot more work that putting something in the door...i was also thinking about tweeter pods in the corners of the windshield...

geez, guys, he's just talking about a different speaker location. ;)

i wouldn't do the door thing, personally. kick panels seem like a fine idea to me.

this is what I did. 6.5 alpine mid base in the door, 5.25 in a kickpanel. (had to move the ECU and cut holes for the magnet), and mount tweets in the A-pillars. Didn't cost me much just a bit of time.

Suede...cause it stretches nicely. It's very easy to do. I molded the tweeters in with duraglass/bondo. Took me an afternoon to do both.
