It's the reverse. The throw out bearing is only engaged when the clutch pedal is pushed down. The transmission is engaged when the pedal is up.If a noise is being made while your foot is off the clutch pedal, this is the throw out bearing. If it makes a noise when the clutch pedal is being pressed, it's your input shaft.
