Horn How-To Request..

so if i just ground that wire with the car on or off.. the horn should honk?

it should... cuz the horn works regardless if the key is in the ignition or not... if i get to test it at work, i'll let u know. till then, try it if u want. but b careful.

btw i failed.......

the horn works when the car is off..i cant figure out how to change that so i cant make the theft deterrrent like i wanted

just run a relay to the horn, tap a switchable power source, and run a 12v power supply to run the horn independently


you're good to go, run a swicth off the ground

but a relay is definitely a safer method

yup, its the same thing that happens in the steering wheels buttons

well as soon as it stops rainin im gunna pull my bumper off to re wire mine and ill let u know whats what.. i didnt read the whole thread but i seen something about the wires at the wheel.. i have to take my wheel off too so ill check that out.. =

i think that we are tlaking about two dif things.. i think that YOU are replying to black hopes issue.. but i want to be able to hond with the car off or not.. through a momentary switch..

i had my air horns to a switch somewhat like that, but the only thing if ud click it all the way the horn got stuck.. it was great for a scare if someone tryed to take ur s**t, u click it and once ur car is on it starts screamin..

im pretty sure it was called a momentary switch.. i couldnt find anything else..

the factory horn button is a momentary switch.. it means the switch is only open when you hold it.. let go and it shuts off..

i have the package in my car i have to check but im positive it said momentary..

well i checked it and it says momentary but then in fine print that i can hardly see it says
" Push On - Push Off " well im in need of a new one since my bro broke the last one.. so i gotta look into it
