How can I make my car safer if it doesn't have any airbags?

My car doesn't have any airbags at all...1992 model. Is there anything I can install that is less obstructive than a roll cage? I'm keeping my car's build mainly for street and not professional track racing...and I don't want a roll cage. Is there anything I can install less than a roll cage that will improve my car's safety?
I'm new to the whole tuner scene here.

I just want to say props on actually being concerned about safety for yourself and your passengers, too many people overlook that when they want a nice car.

Unsafe if not used in conjunction with a roll cage or roll bar.

You could always get airbags installed. :what: It might be a bit of a pain in the ass and it might be kind of expensive (most solutions will be though), but it would suit your needs.

harnesses and a roll bar, and maybe some seats that are designed to be used with a roll bar. but their not "necessary"

a roll cage is not safe for the street unless you plan on wearing a helmet everytime you drive from A to B...

um... as long as the bars aren;t in the way there is no problem and i highly doubt anyone who just drives on the street is going to get a full cage. a roll bar like oc has is plenty.

Yeah, we had a discustion on that awhile ago. I think it was basically decided that it's unlikely a roll bar would cause you any harm from street use.

Good tires inflated to their proper tire pressure, good brakes, and most importantly drive safely.

huh, thats something I did not know. Learn somthing new all the time on here haha.

I like roll bars, and I think a cage is to much for everyday driving.

a full cage is too much for everyday driving. having to climb over a bar everytime u enter or exit the vehicle isn;t practicle. a roll bar like oc has or one that doesn;t interfer with much in the front seats is practicle for a DD.

you can always wrap the bar in foam like the one used in gymnastics equipment. but yeah a rollcage is too much for the street anyways.

and what OC has is like pretty much it i think...i dont see how you could fly out your window strapped down like that.

Sorry for the thread jack but say you have a setup like OC's, recaros and a harness; and you get pulled over can you get a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt? I know it's going to depend on state laws but I can just see police giving you a hard time saying "technically its not OEM safety equipment".

they count as seat belts.

but good luck talking yourself out of a speediing/street racing ticket when the cop walks up and sees you with your roll bar, racing seats, and 4 pt harnesses
