Dominick's does that here, but you have to get up to 25 points in a month. Who the hell spends that kind of money? You need to spend over $1000 a month to get a few cents off your gas and it's at specific locations 40 miles away...

nope. i've seen plenty of places do this. safeway being the biggest name i can think of that offers fuel discounts. foods co and raley's do, but since i've only ever seen two of those with a gas station, i'm sure that's a california thing.

the BP down the road from me offers a 10c/gal discount if you buy a car wash from them (cheapest is $6). totally not worth it. i'd have to pump 60 gallons to get a "free wash" and there's no way i'm putting my car in anything that's not touchless.

killer mpg!!! good job.

i had someone ask me what the formula for mpg was. mpg is the formula, stupid!
Id say its more complicated than "MPG is the formula".

Fill up the tank
Drive around as far as you'd like, emptying the tank is not necessary
Fill up again

Divide miles driven by the amount of gallons you put.

like i said... miles per gallon = miles / gallons = the flocking formula

they asked for the formula, not the methodology. there's only one simple way of knowing how much fuel was used, and you've described it.
