How Serious Is It If The Clutch Is Slippin??

if your disc is out then that pretty much means that your clutch is gone. Depending on what clutch you buy and where you get it installed will determine how much it will be to replace it.


you can get an OEM clutch for under a hundred bucks but if you take it to your local town garage then they can charge you upto or over $800 bucks or so to swap it out. Most garages like that will want to buy the clutch for you, which will be OEM as well but will charge you a feww hundred bucks for the clutch.


The best way is to buy your own clutch and find someone like a friend to replace the clutch. I friend of mine swaps out clutches for around $150 bucks and it only takes him like 2hrs or less.

Damn..$800 for repairs and im hearin from ma bro that if the disk is bad then the pressure plate might need to be changed also..so far im seeing over a 1000 in cost n repairs..

My brother bought his from autozone for like $90bucks if I can remember, you can also search ebay. Don't go to your local "Mike's Garage" or anything like that, try to find a local tuner ricer shop. If all else fails, find a local tuner forum and I'm sure you can find someone to help you out.

So tell him to fix it before you purchase and drive the car back home.

If your mechanically inclined and you just buy an exedy/daikin OEM replacement (which exedy/daikin provides honda with all of their OEM clutches), then have the flywheel resurfaced once it's out and do all of your own mechanical work. It will cost you about $140ish (exedy OE replacement, $100, resurface flywheel, $20, oil/brake fluid - $10) and you could have it done within 5/6 hours.

If you're going to pay a shop to do it, expect $800+

The first step is to verify the PO's diagnosis of a bad clutch. Otherwise, you may be wasting your time planning to replace the clutch. Find out whether your car has the symptoms described by AE Motoring. Another sign of a bad clutch would be severe clutch chatter.

No, not necessarily. You could have a bad clutch but the transmission is fine or vice versa. What specifically are the problems that lead you and others to think the clutch or transmission is bad? It's difficult for people to know how to help you without some detailed description of the problem.
