Yes you do, you need a block off plate or a retro fit to make it work right.
Stock 6th gen civic headlight housings have a built-in "casper-shield" of sort, meant to keep glare down. I've never been brighted with my pnp HID kit, just aim your headlights properly and you'll be fine.

They do not , in fact, have a "casper sheild" of any kind. That deflector is for the high beam filament of a Halogen bulb. It does absolutely nothing for HID capsules.

I mean, look at the most recent picture that he just posted...its glaring at the camera. If its glaring at the camera, I can bet you that other people passing him, are seeing that as well.

I disagree. If you removed that deflector, you would see a huge gain in glare from HIDs and halogens for that matter. He obviously needs to re-aim his headlights which is why it glares so bad on the camera. The other possibility is the glare may not be as bad as the camera is making it out to be.

The way I see it, HID is about 3 times brighter than halogen bulbs. So any way you look at it, lighting is gonna be improved. I personally cant stand projector headlights in 6th gen housings, which is why I wont do one. I, however, love the improved night visibility I get from HID, and less strain on my eyes to see at night.

halogen stock lights have glare built in to light up road signs. so when you add hid, assuming precise gas arc placement, the glare will also be 3x brighter. there is no way to get rid of it, since it is part of the headlamp design. aiming them lower will not work.

I'll take some pic's for you of my car, from far away and up close. It does work (aiming them downward).
