I have a loud knocking noise from the engine

My VTEC goes whaoooo
last night my car shut off when I come to a complete stop and when I started it back up it started making a loud knocking noise. I'm not sure from what part of the engine it's coming from, but it only makes the knocking noise when I rev it between 2500 & 3000 rpm. I was looking on other threads that it might be a bad rod bearing, timing belt skipped or somehow moved, or as simple as valve adjustment. I don't know much about engines so this is why I'm turning to you guys. hope you guys can help. thanks

I'm thinking timing may have jumped a tooth. Since you were coming to a stop I don't think you'd get valve tick all of the sudden, though.

Check your timing belt and make sure everything is lined up at TDC

my cousin told me that most likely it's the rod bearing because of the high mileage it has. same thing happened to his car. I have 280000+ miles on it. hopefully it didn't cause any damage to the crank shaft. and as for it being blown, it's not since it still started up fine and ran, just kept making that loud knocking noise.

Mine went dead started back up started knocking superbad kept on dying. Believe me just because it's running does not mean you have not messed up your engine. Heard of a guy running on a blown d series for a week. 3 of 4 were working that is worse case scenario though. You may be ok.

Somebody is inside your engine. Take off the valve cover and let them out.

Well guys I let my dad take a look at it and said that its a rocker arm making the sound. I told him that my oil light came on when I started my engine and he said that most likely my oil pump is gone. that its not pumping oil to the top of the engine causing the rocker arms to make the tacking noise. makes sense though.
