For 5k you should easily be able to get what you need to put down serious numbers everywhere.

Build a custom turbo set up $1500.00 complete---
fuel set up/injectors/turbo/gate/bov/piping/manifold/intercooler/fuel pump
Full btm end $1000.00 JE pistons/Crower rods/ARP bolts/pins/locks/rings
Full head job $1500.00 custom done with all valves/titanium retainers/dual springs/turbo cams

Cam Gears, dual stage boost controller or electronic version, LSD, clutch, flywheel.....a lot of $

Dont forget a radiator---del sol dual core, water pump, oil pump, t-belt, fuel filter, ARP head studs

+ tuning time and $ for this, approximately 6-10 hours considering its a custom built turbo kit

you can use your stock radiator, if you are going to be cheap...just wire it up to a switch in the car so the fan is always on.

1) What custom setup are you going to run for 1,500? A GReddy? Bahaha. The turbo alone is going to be spendy new.

2) Bottom end: Sleeve, tank, honed? Blueprint?

Its always way more than you think. Plus who's going to install it? If you have shop access, take pics lol :P All in all though, you can make some serious power out of Honda engines. Im still waiting for their SOHC i-6 lol :-p

T3 60 trim .48/.60 turbo
Uberdata
DSM 450cc injectors
Custom Manifold
Johhnyracecar 5 inch tall IC
2.5 inch charge piping
2.5 inch custom downpipe

Actually that entire custom set up right there----i thought a custom set up was one you built, I mean in my eyes it sure isnt a PRE-FAB. Custom usually means you made the s**t, or its custom built, correct??? "Now.... I want to have a nice set up under the hood, kinda like create my own turbo kit, not just buy one that's already put together." original quote from original poster, kinda like create my own turbo kit-----or custom build one, not just buy one thats already put together-----or a pre-fab. Who says the turbo has to be new, rebuilt is perfect for a custom application. As far as the btm end you dont need to sleeve the b***h to hold for minimal power and every once in a while running at the track on high boost or originally stated by the original poster "Im not gonna drag race, maybe once in a while I'll take it to a track." Sleeve it if your looking into going monster race power, 300 to 600whp anything below that and a B series will remain reliable w/o sleeving, however I do agree that sleeving would be your best route to go, if your planning to run a 300-600whp street daily driven vehicle. As far as blueprinting, I agree get the b***h printed for reliability sake, but while your doing that you might as well get a new crank, bore the b***h, and then blue print the entire blown engine.....another thing you dont really need on a budget. Get a Haynes, honda engines are freakin easy to work with. Just because your not mechanically inclined doesnt mean the next guy isnt and viseversa. As for your radiator, I forgot this was an SI, which already has that same radiator, but running it direct can hurt you in the long run, a lot of hassle trying to figure out why your car is always running in the cold run position cause your fan is run direct and keeping your system cool at like 160 degrees.

Hope that answers your questions Createadilema.
