Well im in a debate between subs, i have no past experience with any, nor have i rode in cars with them. So i am looking for some advice between which subs to buy. I currently have Alpine head unit, Type-S components in the front and Type-S 6x9 in the back. But everyone has alpine subs soo... i want to be different. Just any suggetions and pros / cons would be appreciated thanks.

I am looking for two 10" Subs... was thinking about:
-Kicker L7
-Alpine Type-R

I am open to other realistic suggetions.

the reason why a lot of people have the alpine subs is because they are good. whynot finish up your system with some type-s subs.

but the type Rs sound better, and they're still loud.

though i haven't heard the 10s in person.

BINGO we have a winner. Finaly someone who brings up JL besides me. I say go JL. There's always other brands that are good of course, but I've always had JL because it's like...they do SUBS. That's what they do and they're great at it. Everything from bargain(still great for the $) to fantabulous big $ subs. I used to have 2 10W0's and they were better quality and louder than many of my friend's "popular" brands. Since, everyone of my friends has switched to JL's. The type-r's do impress me though. I wrote em off when they first came out do to the "Our product is cool because 'typeR' ricers will buy it" factor. But they are pretty nice.

Anywayz...what do you want? Great SQ and a sub that will keep up with quick bass and play a whole range of bass notes well? Believe it or not subs can have vastly different sound quality and clarity. or do you want just sheer rattle your windows tll they shatter bass? How much $ you willing to spend?

I loved my single 12W6v2 but it was like $4-600. It played all music nicely and really pounded too. I really like my current 13.5W1(like ~$150) but it just doesn't get low enough on many songs. On Blueberry yum yum...forget about it. But for the money it was great. It also requires a big box so trunk space is a factor too. My friend had two 12W3's(v1's) in a huge box in his Rodeo and that was the loudest bass I've heard. I think if your not looking to spend too much money but want good stuff, a single 10W3 would do it. But you might want to go with a 12.

BTW my dream setup is 2 10W6's. hmph too much stuff to spend money on

Depends on the money you are willing to spend, i did my whole system, headunit, amp, wiring kit, box, grilles, and subs for less than $400 (takes time on ebay but its very possible, my brother and i both did this)

He's got about 143dB and I score a 140dB and those are certified carshow scores

It is all Audiobahn - 2 AW120T subs (100watts) A1150N headunit and an 800w sony amp, which people hate on Audiobahn, but for the price and the product, its completely worth it

Yes, thanks for the correction, they are 1000W or that would be some mad dB from such a small wattage

Those are the ugliest subs ever, good job on the 400 bucks though. What audiobahn is actually worth imo

JL is good but a little too tempermental for my taste

Image Dynamics to me is the best all around sub, LOve emm

They are grille covers, so that way I can still put things in the trunk of my car

Hey everyone that loves JL, we'd love to see some posted pics of your systems, because I know how great you all are at spending other peoples money, but we never see where you've spent the money on these subs

I have the dB readings to prove that my system is loud and my money was well spent, however, that is my personal opinion
