JL is good but a little too tempermental for my taste

what do you mean?
The jl subs are great don't get me wrong, but they don't like being driven too hard or being hooked up to a dirty amp. Just not the best choice if you have a habit og getting carried away with it.

oooops

like I said we carry image dynamics in our car. Sealed box it has been metered at 142.3. Pretty damn good considering you are running a ported set up and our subs weren'r broken in yet. About 4 hours play time from the shop to comp.=)

i would suggest the type Rs.....i had two im my civic with a 850 watt amp to one speaker and another 850 to the other and they pounded......but now i have one Audiopipe 12 in a vented box and it blows the Rs out of the water..........but i would say go for the Rs they have a really good clean hard hitting sound in the right sealed box

well...i drove a promotional vehicle for the last 7 months and we had a RF system all around. We had 2 10in rockford fosgate punches....and everyone commented on how great our sound was even when fully blasted.

I had 2 Polk Momo 10s in a sealed enclosure but I found that the bass overran my mids and highs a bit too much for my liking. Sure, I can adjust the amp and the EQ settings down but then I am pretty much just carrying around extra weight and using up trunk space for nothing

I am currently running just one of the 10s in a ported enclosure. I won't win any SPL competitions but I think I found a nice balance for good SQ inside the car.

Next step is to remount the rear 6.5s so they are not firing directly at each other. Still brainstorming that one.

i guess so...every application i have heard them in always sounded solid...but like you said...they were well done vehicles good solid power backing them up...

i have heard nothing but good things about image dynamics...never had a chance to give them a listen...

if i remember right, memphis' are not small enclosure subs. they're inexpensive, and they hit really hard... but they're gonna take up a significant amount of space in your trunk, especially ported.

feel free to correct me if i'm wrong, though.

They are mounted directly across from each other in an Integra

A guy I used to work with had Memphis subs in a GMC extended cab. The enclosure filled up most of the area behind the front seat all the way up to the rear window. So yeah, he had a BIG enclosure but it did hit hard.

Get Alpine Type R's 12 x2.
A Kenwood Amp.
& Dynamat around your entire trunk and the sound will be as crisp as anything you've heard.
I listen to these subs / amps / speakers and all that every day so I won't bullshit anyone.
Well whatever you choose I hope it works for you bro, good luck.
