installing headunit

does anyone know if its possible to install a head unit into a 6th gen civic into the place where the old cd player was instead of having it in the dash??? If so how hard was it to install and did u have to make any modifications???

Where the old CD was? :what:

I thought the CD was built into the HU (it is on my 6th gen Si...)

It's been done before.

Where the old CD was?

I thought the CD was built into the HU (it is on my 6th gen Si...)
99-00 Civics are also 6th gen, but your set up is different from a 96-98. In 96-98, the CD was placed right behind the cup holder. Kinda of a dumb place cause if you open the holder, it totally blocks off the CD access.

actually i love having my cd player there, if im not in the car my cupholder is open and no one can see it, if no one knows its there no ones gonna steal it :D

yea thats why i was thinkin of doin it because my last cd player got stolen and it was up top. Deez what kind of cd player do u have and did it take anything special to put it where the old cd player was???

its just a POS really old sony that i got from my dad's car, and i dont know, i suck with electronics and wiring so my dad did the install so i cant really help you there

well i have been wiring up the cd player on and off all night and the radio wont work and i cant figure out why. any suggestions on ways to maybe solve the problem???

when i try to listen to an fm or am station there is no signal its just the white noise or whatever. i can listen to the cd player fine but when i go to listen to the radio its just the blank noise.

yea i have checked and rechecked all the connections and im still getting no reception. any other possibilities that it could be???

Sounds like the antenna either wasn't plugged back in or came unplugged. Remember that it's not on the wiring harness, it's a seperate round pin type plug.

Ditto. That is an ez part to forget to reconnect. I'd say that is most likely the problem.

well i found the wire and so its workin and everything now BUT whenever i turn the car off it erases the time i had set and all that stuff and gets rid of my memory stations. anybody know why THIS might be happening???

it sounds like the memory wire isnt connected......it doesnt remember ur stations after u turn ur car off right?.....if so its almost deffinetly the memory wire

where would the memory wire be located at??? i looked in the instruction manual and the owners manual and didnt see anythinga bout a memory wire.

if u are installing an aftermarket headunit......u should have gotten a wire harness ....it looks like a plug ...with wires coming out....u plug that into ur honda harness and most of the time all the colors match up ....from the wire harness to the H/U harness .....i cant think off hand what color the memory wire is...
im not sure if its right but im thinkin its a blue wire with a white line.....but the package the harness comes in tells u what every wire is

mine was pink...did you use an aftermarket wiring kit or did u splice it up...*at school, so dont want to read everything..*
