Can anyone here give me ups and downs of each cold air intake brand. People have been telling me to get all different types and I would like to hear from you guys which manufacturer you prefer.

1. AEM
2. ICEMAN
3. INJEN
4. EBAY Generic brand...

Thanks for the help.
btw, I drive a 99 Civic Si (Canada) EX (USA)

1. AEM ( V2 ) --- has dyno proven charts on site.plus the V2 is just bad ass...
2. ICEMAN --- its plastic
3. INJEN --- good product but its just like AEM's standard intake.
4. EBAY ---- generic

to add to what nd4sped said, the AEM will cost you a bit more than any of the others. personaly, i would stay away from the ebay ones... but thats just me. i have an AEM v1 CAI, and i love it. had it for two years and i have loved it. i have heard good things about the injen as well, tho i dont have any experience with them.

1. bad thing about aem, there is a big hp spike drop right before vtec
2. iceman is a good intake, heard nothing bad about it.
3. injen is good also, like the way its a 2 peice.
4. ebay, cheap material, cheap product and will make you look cheap :D

AEM V2: Hella overpriced for the meager power advantage. Not economically sound but you do get V2 bragging rights

Iceman: Any heat-soak advantage is greatly exagerated. Air is a poor conductor of heat even if the aluminum is and the air doesn't stay in the intake long enough to make a big difference. Better when you spend a long time idling in the staging lanes.

Injen: really probably overpriced but good on product consistancy.

Ebay generic: Caveat emptor...Mine is a direct copy of an AEM V1, same curves, same diameters, same materials, hell, may even be made in the same factory for all I know... just no "cool" sticker to put on your door... but different vendors vary in product and quality. Be careful you may not get a decent quality product.

i would go with iceman, the plastic they use has a very low hold rating for heat, alot of other companies cut corners by using cheaper plastic with slower disipation of heat

1. AEM - good and bad about the V1 and V2...no BPV for the V2, but hit's midrange better.
2. Ingen

...I have a V2...haven't installed it yet, but I hear good things about it!

Good luck!

i remembered a main reason why the AEMs are so expensive. all of their products (at least the intakes) are CARB certified. this is one hella expensive thing for AEM to go thru, and therefore they have to jack their prices in order to make it back... while still having their outrageous profit margin. if you care about legality, AEMs are good.

I've seen the dyno charts...so tell me, how does it feel forking out an extra $240.00 for that whole extra one horsepower?

Sounds like you have never heard a turbo before.

Check this on the V2...

http://www.aempower.com/v2.htm

notice there's not much difference in HP except the V2 peaks sooner, but look at the Torque...V2 deffinitely outperforms the V1.

The key to the V2 is that it hits the mid range RPMs better than the V1 because of it's double chamber.

woah a manufacturers dyno c hart. those arent rigged or anything... notice it says those are "typical results" meaning that those are NOT real dyno graphs from real cars.

well, a intake is a intake. so what matter is what style or look you want. all intake average 1-5whp. the most i seen that had the best whp is the comptech icebox which i seen a average of 4-6whp.

that graph is funny. it shows stock has 96-98 hp, not sure if its whp or hp so im guessing its whp, im not fimilar with dx power. look at the V2, 112-115 hp? hahaha. you cant get 15whp from a damn intake
