I'm thinking of putting a Jackson racing supercharger on my 2000 si. What I was wondering is can I put it on and run it safely with out doing any other mods to my car. I currently have intake and exhaust..Jackson racing is recommended some other stuff.. such as colder park plugs, thermostate, fuel pump.. But don't want to spend any more money, the supercharger cost enough. Anyone here have JR supercharger or have any advice about..thanks

Get what they tell you to get. And a 2.5" exhaust system would free up more power. I think most people on this site are going to tell you to go turbo instead.

spark plugs and inline fuel pump would be enough...though hondata or ne other piggyback would be nice....headers and catback would be nice too but not mandatory......though for the money I would go with a vortech sc or turbo setup....roots style SC will produce too much heat especially right by the intake manifold

uhhh ... why would you put a supercharger in a front wheel drive car ??? even if you put it i think it would mess up your other mods ..

consider your thought process wrong.

And a roots type SC doesn't produce any more heat than a turbo; you'll see a turbo get red hot, but you'll be hard pressed to make a Roots SC do the same, unless you're trying to blow it up. . Vortech SC's aren't so great for driveablility as their power band comes up high. Roots are good for low rpm power.

I would do whatever Oscar Jackson tells me to do to make his product work correctly. Sure the SC is expensive, but it's better to be safe than to end up with broken parts

When you compress a gas it gets hot.

turbos have a small degree of bleedover heat from the exhaust side. It's really a negligible amount but it's enough that technically a turbocharger would have a hotter intake charge than a supercharger.

Anyway, about the original question: Check the Jackson Racing website for more information. Last time I checked they had a good fuel management system but were awaiting CARB approval. The system it comes with is okay but they had much improved the upgrade.

That seems like a pretty good price. Is that directly from Jackson Racing? Just look around man. Do a google search and see what you can come up with.

All that $ for 50hp?

$ 700 nitrous kit --------> 125 Shot
$ 350 Rods
$ 350 Pistons
$ 80 Rings
$ 400 Camshafts
$ 400 Head port and polished

Much better results and just as driveable.

for the price of a JCR Supercharger you can get a decent turbo kit or build your own and make more power

everyone is sayin turbo but, i dont think that was his question. i thought he was lookin for advice on the supercharger, not whether or not he should get it at all. i could be wrong. ive been thinking turbo a long time but i feel the JRSC will be less of a hassel and create lower daily driven power instead of spooling and all top end. but id like to hear something from someone who actually has one.

i used to want a jrsc, but after looking into turbo, turbo is cheaper and much more tuneable and you should learn about turbo before you look it down.

I was thinking the direction of a supercharger also. Is a 2.5 inch exhaust really nessecary? I just bought a 2.35 inch midpipe, and would hate to have to get another one.
