here in NZ we only import JDM Hondas, so i was surprised to find that there was a different line-up for the US, never realised the USDM engines would be so crap though, yanks are missing out on all the fun to be had from a ZC!

because honda's arent really bought for speed over here, if we want a fast car that gets decent gas mileage we buy turbo'd cars :D

hrm...

I'm not really all that sure about the physical differences between US/JDM but i know that most of the motors here in NZ (New Zealand) are DOHC instead of SOHC, allowing us to take them that lil bit further...
The ZC really is quite an amazing difference, and it sounds almost like vtec when you put a decent filter on it..... :P

Mileage...

Regarding mileage... the JDM engines have the same IF NOT BETTER fuel economy... take mine for example - I have a Civic RTi with a modified ZC motor (intake, ported/polished, 2.25 exhust system, catalytic converter removed, other 'make-stronger' bits and so forth) yet it still manages to do at least 500km to a tank (i think its about 44 litres) even when i'm nailing it all the time.
As for turbo cars being fast, i agree... but good gas mileage? I think we have differing opinions about what is good mileage...

Two cars..

Yeah, i'm thinking about gettin two cars as well but i wanna get a 4th gen CRX for my second car and keep the wagon as a daily driver.
If i got the CRX i would look at 4wd + toyota V8. :D
That would make me a very sideways, very happy man.

Todays conquer...

In fact, about two hours ago on my way to work i beat a '00 Nissan 200SX Spec R (Standard, but still...) but i think thats mainly thanks to my traction, plus i bought four new tyres a week ago.. Standing start, he was about two car lengths behind me when i hit 160Km/h and started slowing down cause that sorta speed is a loss of license over here.. hrm...
