I heard the eclipse GSt turbo would work with a CRX head. But yeah all the piping would have to be custom welded etc.

i dunno, getting a turbo from a JUNKyard doesnt sound to pleasant to me....the cars there for a reason, usaly being raaaaagged out like crazy, or in a wreck, so the turbo isnt neccisarly gauranteed to work for too long, being used an all... i guess im just the type that would rather save up for an extra few monthes and get new.

Some of the mustang JY turbo guys are running 10's with only a $1000 into the turbo system. Some of them are there daily drivers too. Just because the car is in a junkyard doesn't mean the turbo is bad. Usually it's because the car was totaled out (doesn't always effect the turbo). Also, just have the turbo rebuilt before you throw it on your car and it should be fine.

there's lots of cars with rearend damage that are considered 'totalled' by insurance company because repair costs would be higher than 75% the value of the vehicle. (most of the time, people prefer to give the insurance company the title to the car and receive its value in return (u get a check))... anyway, rearend damage shouldn't damage a turbo, or an intercooler... or sometimes even the engine. JUNKyard is just a name. in other areas, they're called scrapyards or parts yards. whatever, to me they're 'cheap used parts'

and like zinc said, turbos can be rebuilt.

Honda Tuning magazine did what they called "Budget Boost", where they got a 2nd get eclipse turbo (td05), and a 1st gen eclipse intercooler, they explained the whole project, and the costs! Check it out.

I have for sale a 1st gen eclipse turbo (td04) let me know if you are serious.

Good links so far, got a lot of research to do. I was thinking about finding a turbo off a CX650 (Honda Motorcycle) or something just for a low boost easy to spool turbo for quick reliable power but it may prove to be too restrictive. Maybe a unit from a GPz 750....heheheh

im in the middle of doing my homemade turbo kit. right now i have....

T-25 Turbo
HF Exhaust Manifold
DSM SMIC
DSM 450cc Injectors
Boost Controller
Boost Gauge
Air Fuel Gauge
In Dash Gauge Pod
Type 1 Blow Off Valve
Walbro 255LPH Fuel Pump
Del Sol Radiator

Turbo is from a 2nd Gen DSM as well as the intercooler and 450cc injectors. The Exhaust Manifold is from a CRX HF. All I have left to buy is an APEXI SAFC, oil feed and return lines, piping, and random hoses, clamps, etc.

So far Im only $590 into the kit, and you can see Ive bought lots of extras with my setup as well like gauges, larger radiator etc.

$590 - my investment so far
$150 - Used SAFC
$160 - Oil Feed and Oil Return Kits
$200 - Piping, etc. (generous estimation, should be less)
---------
$1100 - Total Kit w/ many extras

As you can see, if you look around and take your time, you can do this, build a very formidable setup, and do it for not much money at all. My setup will be good for about 8psi on a regular basis, 10-12psi if I get boost happy.

Honestly, read all of the setups on homemadeturbo.com, then go to google.com and search for "twin turbo crx." they are the pioneers of this junkyard turbo movement in the honda world. turbod16.com is a great source for info and homemadeturbo.com also has forums you can read as well. its very informative.

A friend of mine from work is opening up his own shop next week and they know a lot about turbos, right now he's doing a juckyard twin turbo set up on his mustang and they have a 6 sec mustang engine with a turbo off a Kenwood semi, lol.
Doing a junkyard setup can be very very cheap. A lot of the times it's less than a G.

some guy on homemadeturbo.com just did a twin turbo D16Z6!!!

and as far as the word "junkyard." its used loosely and not meant to be taken seriously. most of the stuff i got was brand new as far as accessories. the turbo, smic, and injectors all come off of a factory eclipse with only 50,xxxx miles after the guy went with an FMIC, a 20G turbo, and 700cc injectors. its really not as bad as some people get the impression.
