just bought my first car, 93 si hatch

well i got a red93 si hatch with black interior, its already got a DC header, A/C is removed, its lowerd, has a seabring exhaust (which im replacing next pay cheque with a Tanabe Super Racing Medallion) clear side lenses, and some crazy spoiler ive never seen before, and a mid wing, it looks pretty nice.

they changed the interior a bit, whats did they replace the cup holder part with??

but anyway, this may sound like the dumbest question ever, but how do you know if your engine is the right si engine. cuz i cant find it the. ***edit*** found it

other question, do 5th gen si hatchs have Vtec on the valve cover? or no?

Your engine code should read D16Z6. This pic isnt your exact engine, but the engine code is in the same location:

Weird thing is that insdie they chagned the dash part hta under the radio, i think its from a 96 civic, and its pisses me off cuz there is no cup holders!!!

i think what you are referring to is a jdm audio console, you can simply remove it and send it to me if you dont like it

on your hatchback the engine code is on the engine block to the left of the header... it might be dirty, but it's a little flat spot that is about the size of a postage stamp right at the edge of the block next to the tranny... etched on that plate it should say D16Z6.... you might have to rub it with a stiff bristle brush to get the crap off of it so you can read it. Congrats on the purchase by the way! Any pics? Any plans?

my plans are currently samll as of yet

tint the windows, get new gauges, headlights, black side lenses, and tanabe super racing medalion cat back exhaust
i can get those in the next 3 weeks.

after those, im getting a CAI, carbon fibre tail lights.
than after that im geting carbon fibre lip and hood, than painting it blue.
and of course ill be fititng in strut bars and battery tie down bar (the kinda little stuff) into the picture somewhere inbetween.

and after all that im getting rims

Those are my plans as of now, they can change at any minute!

Im not sure but i dont think that the 92-93 hb si had vtec. I only think the 94-95 had vtec. Please correct me if im wrong.

Actually scratch what i said above the 93-95 hb si do have vtec. The 92 dosnt.

u should clean the car, engine bay, and get rid of the second wing....seems like it was hot glued on to the back...and of what i see the car might not be a vtec.

Well just one question. Are you sure its an SI. Im not trying to say you dont know what your doin but people these days will rip you off. A dead giveaway is the sunroof. Oh one more thing is that blue tape on your exhaust? At first i thought it was a coffee can.

thats an si. looks just like the engine bay of my 92 si (except mines clean ) anyways, thats a d16z6 and it does have vtec. i forget what year they started putting VTEC on the valve cover, but none the less its still a d16z6 w/vtec. nice car, post the pics up once you get that thing clean. btw, has anyone tried the mr clean autodry thing? I have and i gotta say it works pretty good.

that intake manifold looks just like mine on my d16z6. I'm pretty sure other civic motors had smaller intake manifolds

that is a d16z6 and yes it should have the vtec, one way to check to see is to look between ur tb and ur valve cover, and thier should be a small cylinder, if thier is then you have a vtec, also to make sure its an si look to see if thier is a sun roof. from ur pics it seems like you dont have the cylinder, so it might be a cx, so in other words u might have got riped off. and the ression that it dont say vtec if it is an si, is cuz the 92-93's didnt get that put on them. just the 94-95's cuz my 93 ex dont say vtec. but i have the vtec cylinder. if ya have any more questions just pm me, ive done a lot of research on this engine. and it shuld be to the left of ur header, the block code that is.
